Logitech Driving Force GT Tips

I recently got my steering wheel for GT5 and I wanted to see if anyone had any tips on calibrating the wheel for best results in game. I am currently using the amateur setting with the feedback setting at 1. It feels pretty good on this setting but at times on straight a ways the wheel will start moving side to side and I end up spinning out. What settings are everyone else using?

I tried loading the disc on the computer and tried to adjust some settings on there. Has anyone else tried that?

I also find using the wheel with the go karts extremely difficult. What kinds of settings are you guys using while using the wheel?

There not much information on the web about calibrating the wheel. Let see if some can shed some light on getting the most out of this wheel.

I just use the default settings for feedback of 5 (I like how tight it feels and the bumps I feel).

And I do not think the Amateur thing, etc is for this wheel. I think it is for two older wheels since it only highlights them.

I noticed it took a few to get used to the wheel at first. Since you have to be smooth and not aggressive as you would in real life.

You have to basically drive "light" if that makes sense.

But now that I am getting used to it, I am amazed how much better I can see myself from a week ago, and I am getting times and trophies I know I would not get with a controller.

Also you have to practice proper braking and gas procedures... and once you get in the groove, it feels so natural and good.

But the only downfall is the brake on this wheel is WAY too sensitive, and the slightest push snaps the brakes in a lock up. So you have lightly feather it.

I need to make a foam mod or bungee mod for it. I wish they made the Club Sport Brake Pedals for this like they do for the Fanatec Wheels. Cause then it would be "like cheating" the sim racing experts say, the braking is perfect on them.

Thanks for the tips. I haven't had problems with braking. Now that you mention it, I did notice that the other wheels pop up on amateur. I will try 5 as the feedback to see how it feels. Basically I tried it at 10 then went down to 1 to see how if feels. I think now I am almost as good I am with the controller except for the go karts.

There are more in depth settings when you plug in to your computer. There's options like Damper Effect and Spring Back Effect. Have you tried messing with any of those options and do you think those are PC exclusive options?

Also if your car begins to twitch and you have to correct don't be afraid to yank the wheel quickly and hard to correct it while doing some fancy throttle work.

I have, since I use it for Grid on the PC but I set the wheel to 220 degrees and not the full 900 since it is an arcade racer, and without realistic sim like physics, 900 degrees is way too much for that game.

Those settings only effect on the PC for the driver set. They do not effect the PS3.

Though people have been asking for more options to adjust for this wheel in GT5, since the dead zone needs to be reduced I think, though doing 150+MPH in a realistic sim, it is almost good to have some "dead zone".

So I hope they do open up more options in a patch... though they did a remarkable job at how fluid and smooth it feels.

Indeed. If you clam up and are afraid of the wheel, then you will jerk and spin out... the wheel is well built, it can take the abuse, so do not be afraid to snap it back the other way.

Thanks for the tips. I am driving a lot better now and the feedback from the wheel feels good.
