Re: What's your recruiting strategy?

Personally, I let the computer recruit for me, but set my preferences:

QB - scrambling
RB - speed
FB/TE - blocking
OL - balanced
DT - run defense
DE - pass rush
LB - balanced
CB - pass coverage
S - pass coverage

Re: What's your recruiting strategy?

I try not to get too greedy and recruit in my pipeline states. If I have a 3 star guy and I'm in his top 5 and I have a 4 star guy and I'm in his top 10 I will spend more time on the 3 star guy since I have a bigger shot at landing him.

Also recruiting in my pipeline states earns me extra points.

Re: What's your recruiting strategy?

Recruiting in NCAA 11 is way different then in NCAA 10. In 11 you have to look at more then just star grades. I have found 3* guys that better then 4* guys. You have to recruit based on what you want to do. I run Auburn's playbook with Nebraska. Since I depend on my run game this is what I recruit for Offense.

QB= Speed, I look for good acc, agl and speed. I don't worry so much about how good of a passer he is. I only throw about 12-15 times a game.

HB= Bruiser, I look for a back with good trucking, acc, agl, and stiff arm.

FB= Run Blocking, good run block foot work and strength

WR= For this system I don't recruit WR all that much. I move good pass catching, under sized TE to WR. This allows me better run blocking on the outside.

TE= Blocking enough said

OL= Good run blocking. Must have good (c+ or higher) in run block strength and run block foot work.

On Defense I run a multiple D

DE= I look for guys with good strength (block shed and moves) and pass rush ability

DT= I look for strength (block shed and moves) and size. I try to keep one guy that has good speed ratings to play DE in the 3-4 looks.

OLB's= I look for good pass rushers. I will move under sized DE with good speed ratings to OLB.

MLB's= I look for guys with good coverage and speed to play sideline to sideline.

CB's= Coverage ability. I look for guys who have good zone and man coverage ratings.

FS/SS= Good zone coverage ability. Most of the time I play 2-Deep with my safeties so good zone helps out.

K/P= Anyone with kicking ratings higherr then a C-. I always create 15 kicker and 15 punters each year since they suck in this game. You have a 30 player max for creating players so I use it here.

You have to look at what you do and find players that fit that system. Don't base your recruiting on star grades. I have found 68ovr 5* HB's and 79ovr 4* HB's. You have to look at the ratings for each recruit.

agreed. Also, recruit within your limits. If you are a 1 star prestige school, you will have to start off recruiting lower star recruits and as your team gets better, so will the recruits interested in your school.

Its hard but you have to look more at the ratings then what star they are. There are times I had 3 or 4 star recruits interested by went after a 2 star because he fit my system better. Since I run more, it wouldnt do me that well to get a pass blocking OL.

Last, try to go after pipeline state recruits as much as possible. It gives you those extra points which can add up.
