Re: Princeton Offense help?

You need big men who can pass and jump shooters across the board.

Edit: Think Sac, w/ Divac, Webber, Hedo, Peja, Mike Bibby, etc.

Speed wouldn't hurt either.

Probably want to use Rockets or Cavs playbook (although I haven't looked at them) and turn up backdoor cuts to 100. And maybe increase flashy passes a little.

I don't think Utah does. The closest thing in the NBA today (and it's not really close), is what Hou does.

Eddie Jordan did in WAS and tried to in PHI. Adelman did in SAC and is in HOU. Byron Scott has run a form of it everywhere he has coached.

I would also like to know how to replicate this offense in the game.

Re: Princeton Offense help?

To be honest, the closest thing I've seen to the "Princeton offense" is Indiana's playbook.

I watch the Rockets every single game, and they run a "Princeton" style offense. The biggest thing they do is go through their PF or C in the high post, and the wing players create a lot of movement off the ball. Every play in the Pacers playbook goes through the PF or Center at the high post.

As far as what you need:

PG - Solid shooter. Doesn't need to dominate the ball. Bibby and Brooks are perfect for this role

SG - Very good shooter that is great off the ball. Richard Hamilton, Ray Allen, and Kevin Martin are the prototypical guys.

SF - Could be any kind, really. I'd suggest a spot-up shooter. Casspi would be great.

PF - Solid shooter, good passer, but can also create for himself at the high post. Lamarcus Aldridge is the perfect model for this.

C - Good passer, can also spread the floor a bit. Yao is very nice, Brad Miller is good... I also like Camby and Hibbert here as well.
