Are you talking about in the open field when the defenders are behind you? Do you have the stick pressed all the way up? I have played too many games to count and I never see this. Even with the sliders in the AI's favor.

Now sometimes D linemen will catch me as I am going through the hole or trying to get aaround the corner, but thats fine because if they have good acceleration and only have to take 2 quick strides to get there, thats realistic.

But if the defenders are behind me after I hit a slant against the blitz or my RB gets into the second level with noone with an angle and everyone behind him, I have NEVER seen the AI defenders catch up to my player if I have the speed edge. In fact alot of the time, I am wondering why the 94 speed AI CB doesn't catch my WR with a 90 speed.

This is affected by sliders.

Speed threshold changes the comparative speed of faster and slower guys.

Running back ability affects the speed of players with the ball (not just HBs/FBs).

A high speed threshold will allow slower guys to make up more ground on faster guys than a low threshold.

A low RBA slider will slow down ball carriers (even with it @ 40 makes them feel like they're running in mud) which will also allow slower defenders to catch faster ball carriers.

That 94 speed CB might not have a good acceleration rating and/or your WR might have high acceleration, it's not just about the speed ratings anymore.

Of course sliders effect these things. I just see alot of people mention that they get caught from behind by slower players and I never see it even with human RBA at 40 and AI defense sliders cranked up.

Yeah, I realize there are factors involved, it just seems like in every other thread I see people complaining about linemen running their RBs and receivers down, and I don't see it. In fact I doubt I would see it unless I lowered the Human RBA way below 40.

Thats exactly it, its why we have to discuss these things because I don't want EA dumbing down the defense or making them slower because they have read in multiple threads that linemen are running down 90+ speed RB's downfield. I have to really handicap myself with sliders and some house rules to not get too many big plays as it is.

yeah I just dropped speed threshold to 0 and use SECelite's slider sets and I am good.

There was one time that I was curious because an ILB caught my HB from behind but then I looked at his acceleration and speed both which were higher then my HB so it made sense.

With default settings, there were sometimes I was getting caught behind (about 5 yards from the line of scrimmage) in the open field after running a toss play to the outside. Once i modified the sliders and speed threshold, I haven't had a problem.
