So there I was, simming thru the most frustrating season with the leafs ever. No scoring, horrible netminding. I stop at the trade deadline before thinking about restarting a GM with a better team...

First round: no trades.

Second round: MacArthur + Orr + a 3rd round pick to Atlanta for Pavelec and Peverley. (after the trades, I picked up Orr off of waivers.)

Third Round: THIS HAPPENED: http://i.imgur.com/ERxsA.jpg

This was an untouched offer I received from the Bruins. I almost immediately accepted (I took a picture first.)

and I thought the trade logic was flawed?

The CPU must know what it took me three drafts to figure out 1st round picks are useless. Believe it or not, the best players from the draft seem to be the 6th 7th and Undrafted status picks.

Another note, After 2 straight first round exits in the playoffs I blew up the Sabre's Roster and put Iginla(Picked him up for Connolly,Stafford and 1st rd pick in my first year as GM), Vanek and Miller on the block. The Bruins offered Wideman,Savard,Lucic and Wheeler, while I was tempted, I declined.

Yeah, I got offered two number ones for my young, highly rated, goalie (who, by the way, can't seem to stop a bowling ball). I grabbed the deal, since goalies in this game appear to resemble swiss cheese. I am having trouble getting sliders to fix this (but that's another issue).

As to the value of number one picks, I sort of agree with MrMars, but also sort of disagree. I do agree late round picks often come in with a higher overall rating than my number one picks. But, I have found number one picks usually have higher potential than late round picks. My late round guys, with a nice overall, usually have C potential. Once again, I miss the immediate impact player we see in real life every few years.
