Frank the Tank's alternate approach to 360 roster set

Before I describe this roster set, let me first mention that it is based on shakeandbake30's rosters, which are based on RomanCaesar's, so I need to give credit where it is due for the base rosters that I started from. Both those people do outstanding roster work.

That being said, here is my approach with these rosters. Most of the roster sets I've looked at here at OS Sports are based around trying to get accurate individual ratings for all the players. My approach was to try and get accurate overall ratings for the teams on offense and defense, rather than all the players individually. The other thing is that I didn't start my roster updates until about 2 weeks ago, when all the teams had played at least 8 games or so, when I would have a pretty good idea of what teams were surprises, which had been overrated at the start of the season, and so on. So a few teams have been rated upwards considerably and some downgraded quite a bit.

My basic reason for this approach is that IRL, sometimes good coaching and/or a good scheme can make teams overachieve collectively, and vice versa. And physical talent doesn’t always equate to performance on the field. But you can't simulate that in a video game. So I took the approach of trying to grade teams as a whole based on how they have actually performed, then adjusting the players to fit that grade. My second reason is that I wanted teams to approach how they actually played this year (that is why I waited so late to start) but with a 40+ hour per week job, I only had so much time to actually research individual guys. Which is why I'm so thankful for the awesome work of the people I based these rosters on in the first place.

A few other technical things. No injured or suspended players have been removed from the depth charts (thus NC has a monster defense) though it is possible I've missed a few. This also caused some teams that have had major injury issues to be a bit better than they’ve been in reality. All team ratings are based on their statistical ranking nationally, modified by strength of schedule. I also tried to give precise ratings to QBs based on their actual passer rating at the time I did their team, trying to ignore the hype & reputation that surrounds some in favor of how they've actually performed. Offensive team rating is based on their rank in yards gained (not points scored) and same for defense, again modified by strength of schedule.

Finally, I don't really plan to do more updates for the last week or 2 of the season, part of the point of starting so late was to avoid having to do that. But if you find this useful, great. I don't know if this approach will have any popularity with people, but it seemed a good idea to me. I am sure there are some imperfections and mistakes here on teams I don't know very well, but I did what I could.

Neillyb, I will try to upload it again, I thought I had done so yesterday, but maybe not.

Jrh, I am pretty new to the forum and have not uploaded for an offline user before. If you tell me how I'll be glad to.

No, no streaking. The college is my town doesn't have a quad or a gymnasium to streak through. And since I moved to Montana (guess I should change that on my user info) it is a bit cold for that anyway. We got down around -10 or so this last week at nights.
