More and more "rumors" and leaked information is coming out about Sony's PSP successor.

And it sure sounds like it is going to be a beast, as well as have all the options gamers have been wanting in the next PSP.

Here are some dev kit images!

EA has confirmed it’s had “exposure” to the unit, and developer Netherrealm has openly admitted it’s working with a kit. PSP2 is supposedly heading for release in late 2011. If you’re in any doubt as to the authenticity of these images, don’t be. It is what it is. Enjoy. Update: We’ve been told by a source that these images are from the last kit. There’s a newer one, which is a single, non-sliding block. Remember those last Kotaku rumours of the unit overheating? Sony switched back a form like PSP-1000 in order to cool it down.

Sounds interesting but why no UMD? loved the fact that it will have dual analog sticks. I hope they learned thier lesson and not overprice this on release. Who am i kidding, its sony lol. If its around $200 im on it. If its $250 or more forget about it.

Probably more head room for textures and being able to allocate more to that department, as well as sound, physics, etc.

I have a gut feeling the processor(s) will be cell based as well. Considering Sony has been using it in multiple entertainment products now (TVs, Blu-Ray players, receivers, etc). Also they have been manufacturing them for so long, the yields have produced smaller form factors and lower power consumption.

I agree. I wished they kept the UMD but I do like the dual analog sticks but the priced is gonna be iffy.

I'm excited that there is no UMD. Sony made a mistake with the PSP-GO, splitting your userbase is never a good idea. So they created a new one this time, perfect.

I don't think $250 would be too much to ask, especially if this thing will be as powerful as advertised. Either way, this definitely sounds interesting... now let's see if these rumors hold true, and what the game lineup could look like.

Agreed. Nintendo is releasing the 3DS in Japan for $300 and people speculate $250 in the states.

So I would not be surprised if this was around that price as well.
