Lobby for BaGM NHL 12

I believe now is the time of year to lobby for improvements to BaGM mode for NHL 12, as I believe production begins now or has begun already. The depth, functionality, and versatility/flexibility of the mode, IMO, is what will satisfy the offline NHL gamer. The question is, is there enough of us to mandate these upgrades.

Depth: Currently very decent. I would like to see an IR and LTIR implemented. This would allow for more realistic injury numbers and allow teams to properly work with the Cap. I would like to see functional leagues or leagues that yield stats. Even if the leagues are "fictional", for instance a US college league. I know EA would need to obtain a license for real college leagues but, I'd be happy just to be able to send my draft picks back to their "fictional" team and observe their progress in that league.

Functionality: Currently, ouch. Too many problems that have been around for too long. Of course a solid sim engine is a must but, I also think a flexible sim engine is in need if there is going to be versatility in the options for the user. There are players who want super realism, and players who prefer quick games that won't yield realistic stats. A flexible sim engine is going to have deal with that.

Versatility/flexibility: Currently, eh. I really want multiple users for this mode. I know a lot of guys want custom season lengths.

These are my opinions, please add all of your own.

This is the big one for me.

I really dig the game. But if customizable season lengths are left out again for NHL '12'...I'm going to be very disappointed. Imo, this option should nearly be a no brainer.

I'd also like to see a Team/League page added for '12'. Something along the lines of what Madden had years ago. A newspaper type of thing.

Re: Lobby for BaGM NHL 12

FIX whatever is broken in NHL 11 and to its predecessors.

what i want to see:

1. you can control other Team because there are times that they will send some great players to AHL. in my current BGM mode, the number 1 goalie of Detroit was sent to the minors after 5-7 games and he's not having a bad record!

2. save the camera options instead of doing the adjustment every time you like to play the game (if you play 2 games consecutively, you dont need to adjust the cam on ur 2nd game, thank goodness).

3. how about authentic site for the games.... or at least a short film clip of the city hosting a game would be cool.

4. LESS PEOPLE in ATTENDANCE - to add more depth (and pressure) if your team is playing poorly.......... people will less likely attend your games. or breaking news of some sort about your team, either good or bad.

5. Add a "Coach mode" within the GM mode - you can coach the games (changing lines, juggling lines or whatever) without you playing in game (skating or being a goalie). Or if you're coaching poorly or making many wrong decisions, you can be terminated by your GM =) or if you're the GM being terminated by the owner mid season (i havent seen this or heard of it if its there in 11).

ill add more as i can think of them. but yea.... good thread........ SO EA can start designing this BeGM mode seriously.

Re: Lobby for BaGM NHL 12

Some of these are overall game improvements, but oh well:

Coaching should play a bigger role, or maybe they add a Be a Coach mode, bu it'd make it more interesting to have to juggle line combos during a game...currently I never do cause the menus are so slow.

Now that they've added Chemistry to HUT, I think it would be cool to see Chemistry in Be a GM and other modes. Ron Wilson is constantly switching centers around since the Leafs don't have a real #1 guy...it would add another layer to this game to have to consider Chemistry instead of just Overall rating when building lines. And during games if a guy isn't going well you could swap him around to hopefully fire him up. That'd be cool. As long as there's an Assistant Coach option as well, for those that don't want to be this hard core.

Mostly I want faster menus...so much lag in this game...need to be able to scroll and page up/down through long lists much faster.

Since NHL is the only game I play, I wouldn't be opposed to a 4GB (or more) installation process...hard drives are cheap (on PS3, don't know about XBox). Anything to speed up the load times.

And of course, bring in a real roster sharing feature.

Re: Lobby for BaGM NHL 12

For me, there is not enough involvement with the players in BeAGM. Here's my list of desires:

1) Fixing the sim engine is first and foremost.

2) I'd like to have an "awards" page on the players' cards (like in Madden) showing draft position, all star teams, and awards.

3) The players' cards should have their stats for their entire careers (again, like in Madden).

4) I'd like to be able to view the players by league, team or position (again, as one can do in Madden).

5) For the retired players' screen, I'd like to be able to click on the player and get to his stats and awards.

6) A "find players" function would be terrific, so I can target a player I want to obtain to fit my holes.

7) Remove the requirement of autosaving and give us in-game saves

8) Not sure if this is an issue being addressed with the patch, but progression of players seems very slight. Three years in and there is no player from any of the drafts over even an 82. Seems like there should be a few stars by now.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Re: Lobby for BaGM NHL 12

  1. Offensive Assignments: Give us control of where our individual players go when you get set up in the zone. If I have a big PWF with good balance and hand eye I should be able to tell him to take the spot in front of the net instead of the squishy little Playmaker.
  2. Update the Create a play mode: As is stands now its a real pain in the butt to get your players to actually do what you want. You tell them to skate to the slot and then test the play and they end up below the circle on the other side of the net. One suggestion would be to allow us to move players into zones instead of just arbitrary lines. If you want your man on the side boards to crash they net you could tell him to move from that zone to the low slot for example.
  3. Bring back roster sharing
  4. Up the CPU's aggressiveness in the early part of games: I think the reason you see people complaining about comeback AI in this game is because in the third period the CPU ratchets it down and comes at you to force the play and they get caught off guard. I hate seeing the CPU defense men just let me skate into their zone time and time again, have them come up and play the man. It doesn't mean they have to get check happy, just play tighter to his check and force the action. I see the CPU do these things in the third but it is severely lacking in the early parts of the game.
  5. Have computer teams prioritize their rosters better: I hate seeing low 80's grinders with no offensive worth on the second line over a better offensive talent who is one point lower in OVR.
  6. I would love to see the trade block completely redone. It would be great if they could make trades in this game work like an updated version of what they are in NFL Head Coach. Make it a back and forth negotiation and let the CPU say upfront that they will NOT trade certain members of their core. Instead of the way it is now with the player spending 10 mins on trying to balance a deal just for the CPU to say they are not willing to trade that player.
  7. Bring back player suspensions and illness.
  8. Add some immersion to Be A GM. Even if it is just a weekly newspaper report about what player and teams are hot, big suspensions, big name trades, and the leading trophy candidates.
