New York Jets dynasty help?

I want to make a New York Jets dynasty (since I'm like obsessed with Rex Ryan and his defensive genius self), creating my own coach and all. But I need some help setting me up. I want similar personnel/philosophies that the the Jets have now. I'm going to start with the off-season but I need some help with the decision-making. Please help me!
PLAYBOOK SELECTION
Offense- Default one sounds about right and I can just upgrade it a bit. Maybe even add plays that they use in real life
Defense- Rex Ryan 46 or Rex Ryan's plays. Add plays that they use in real life

PHILOSOPHY HELP
I need help for the following position philosophies:
QB
WR
DT
FS (I plan on keeping Kerry Rhodes)

OFF-SEASON HELP
I wanna still get Vernon Gholston and just move him to DE but in the 2008 Draft, the Rams ALWAYS draft him 2nd overall and I can never trade up. How can I still get him?

I don't want to sign Calvin Pace even though he is always available towards the end of free agency. Who are some players I could sign or trade for that are like Pace but better in-game? Also would like to find players similar to Jim Leonhard (I'm thinking I could work some magic in the draft and land Gholston AND Kenny Phillips to play SS).

How the hell do I get rid of DT Dwayne Robertson??? He is such a waste of cap space but I don't think it wise to just take that enormous penalty by just releasing him. I can never ever get trade offers for him. Should I just live with him being on my roster until his contract is up or what?
Finally, who are guys I could trade for that would do well in my offense? I don't know a lot about NYJ's offensive playbook/scheme.

Hmmm... I don't know much about the Jets. But what I do know is, TRADE FOR DONOVAN MCNABB! I got him for a HB with 88 Potential (Lorenzo Booker) and a 3rd and a 4th or the next year. And the next year he got 4500 yards, 40 TD, 10 INT, and an MVP award.

Re: New York Jets dynasty help?

McNabb's my favorite QB. I'm thinking about trading for him but I think I might trade for Pennington or another accurate QB. I want to have a good run game and an accurate QB because I don't plan on going deep often.

Re: New York Jets dynasty help?

The Jets are actually pretty fun imo

I wouldn't bother getting vernon gholston instead with ur 1st round pick get keith rivers, he is a BEAST in any scheme, he can blitz and cover well normaly wins DROY

The Jets offensive playbook is an alright run heavy PB, its also got the least amount of plays (i think) so players learn it fast, it just needs a little tweaking

For your philosophies just look at shottys card (since its his offence) and use those philosophies

for FS its Centerfield in Rex Ryans Scheme

DE - Run Stop
DT - Run Stop
OLB - Pass Rush/3-4 Blitzer (need high speed)
ILB - Power/Blitzer (but make sure they have high tackling and strength)
CB - Man Coverage/Ball Hawk (make sure they are 85+ man coverage and good tackling because they will be in man coverage alot)
FS - Centerfield
SS - Run Support/Big Hitter (but needs good coverage, in rex ryans defence the SS will blitz alot)

So with drafting take Keith Rivers at number 6 (as above)

If you want a DE take Calais Campbell in the 2nd, hes a great 3-4 end that is also a great pass rusher,

Also you can take Dre Moore in the 3rd can play 3-4 end quite well but you will need to rotate him

In the 6th round you can take Aythya Rubin (sp?) hes a great 3-4 NT and you will need a good back up for jenks coz he gets injured alot

If you want a WR i recommend Mario Maningham in the 4th round or Early Doucet in the 3rd they are good WR's that you can plug in as rookies (manningham may drop alot of balls his rookie year but that all stops in his 2nd year)

So if you draft these guys you should be fine, and have a very solid D line that you can keep rotating, I wouldn't worry about QB too much coz you can pick up a great one in future drafts, i went 13-3 in my first year with the dolphins with jim sorgi as my QB, pretty much because of my defence

The biggest problem will be stopping tom brady 2 times a year, i always smash the pats when brady is injured but when hes healthy he kills me lol, i shutdown welker and moss but Chris Henry kills me (they normaly sign him) or the TE gets me

Have fun with your jets career, and sorry bout the long post lol,

Re: New York Jets dynasty help?

Thanks for the help man! I really wish I could get Jim Leonhard on my team but I don't think he's even in this game.

So I'm not going to get Gholston and instead I'll get Rivers and maybe draft up and go after Phillips. If I can keep a 2nd round pick I'll go after Campbell too. But I don't think Bart Scott is on the roster so I might need to get him or somebody like him. OK...shouldn't be too hard.

Again, thanks!

Re: New York Jets dynasty help?

Jim Leonhard is in the game, but hes not that good lol like in the 50's or 60's, when i did a jets career i started him at SS moved Kerry to FS, i rekon he played alright, but hes not pretty in man coverage :P

If u want a good tackler/blitzer at SS i rekon go Criag Steltz from LSU hes compared to Roy Williams, hes not the greatest man coverage guy, but hes good in zone coverage and a great tackler, u can get him in the 4th round i believe

Also if you can't draft him, pick up Gibril Wilson from FA, hes a great blitzer, good tackler, and a pretty good cover guy and hes a push over in contract negotioations

Re: New York Jets dynasty help?

oh and Bart Scott, i wouldn't trade for him the ravens want a pretty high pick, but he does go to FA almost always after year 1, but he gets injured alot!

Spoiler

remember u still have david harris, but for year 1 just be creative on defence, against some teams you will line up in the nickle for a bit, You could also draft Beau Bell in the 4th, i hear good things I've never drafted him before so i can't say much about him

Haha even more help. Thanks!

I've never really taken time to figure this out but how do you get the draft class you want? And which is the best draft?
