Game Locking Up Computer

It happens at varying intervals, anywhere from a couple of minutes in to over an hour. The picture freezes, the commentary finishes whatever sound clip happens to be playing, and then it's just dead crowd noise. I can eject the disk, and the 'USB device removed' sound plays if I unplug the controller, but I can't pull up the task manager or Alt+Tab away from the game. Even removing the disc doesn't get it to go away, the only solution is to reboot.

Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? I've passed System Requirements Lab's Can You Run It? for both minimum and recommended system requirements.
