Does 1080p REALLY Make a Difference? (PS3)

People keep on saying how 2K10 and 2K11 look MUCH better in 1080p. I really don't see any differences between 720p and 1080p for these games. Can someone point them out?

Using PSTriple.

The difference is your TV. When you watch ANYTHING on a TV capable of 1080p, it's in 1080p. Chances are it's upscaled, unless your watching a blu-ray. When you choose to set your ps3 to 1080p, it upscales that image for you, rather than having the TV do it.

So basically, it depends whether your TV or your PS3 is better at upscaling to 1080p.

My TV is capable of 1080p. Can you tell me something to look at at 720p and 1080p for 2K10/2K11 to notice differences immediately?

I honestly haven't tried it with 2k before.

1080p on PS3 games generally smooths things out a little, but the sacrifice is some detailed textures tend to blur. I know forcing Uncharted 2 to 1080p automatically makes characters hair blurry, and any time the camera pans it becomes pixellated.

You'll just have to try it to find out, every TV is different. If you can't actually tell the difference, leave it on 720p, it will work your playstation less, and improve your fps.
