How do you stop it?

Four Verticals middle post pattern?

I used to use 3-3-5 Cover 3 but that leaves the streaks open. I've used quarters contain with limited success - but I still have problems.

And it seems like since my level has gone up, I'm coming up against it more and more - nearly every game it seems.

I've never really had to defend against it, but if past games against the CPU are any indication, it's going to be very difficult to stop. I have banned myself from using any verticals plays against them because that middle receiver is always open. For whatever reasons the CPU does not act properly to that play and it creates a huge exploit.

Run some type of man defense. You can run cover 1, leaving you one safety over the top, or you can run cover 2 man, leaving you two safeties over the top with everyone manned underneath. The only bad thing is, unless you run a dime package, the inside guys will be manned up by an outside linebacker. So if you are going to run it, your best bet is out of the dime package.

Re: How do you stop it?

First thing is you cannot sit in coverage and only bring 3 or 4 every play. No matter what you do a good player will be be patient and find the open guy. If im in a situation where i think that pass is coming i do 1 of 3 things...

1. Play quarters man cover 2 and i take the MLB who's a spy and put him in a hook zone, i play as him and cover the deep middle.

2. Bring 6 with 3 deep behind it. Either you'll get a sack or a give up a quick catch, but you shouldnt give up a homerun. Play the pass. You'll have to look through your playbook to find a good one but they are in there.

3. Balls to the wall, double A blitz with man cover 0 behind it. If they are even a tad slow to react its a sack, if they get it off it might be a TD. Play the pass, dont bump and run or show blitz. Manually bring the LB's into the A gaps before the snap. Sometimes this is the best option if you think they'll score no matter what and either you'll make a play or they will and you'll have enough time on the clock to counter it.

The key is the mix it up. That being said, it's still hard to stop against a good player. Take chances every once in awhile and maybe you make a stop or get a sack. You just cannot sit back in coverage.

Quarters Man Up 3 Deep, show blitz pre snap to vaguely disguise it. You get man with help in 3 areas deep.

This is exactly what you shouldnt do. This puts the LB 1 on 1 with the inside slot guy who is doing the deep middle post out of 5 wr sets. Read my post and go no further. Zukes you are banned from giving advice.

This works well in 3rd and 20+, its important to use formation subs to take out the linebacker in place of another DB.

To stop it in general, use a cover 4. I'm not sure of the exact name, but it has 4 deep safeties, 2 hook zones, and 2 buzz zones. Located in Deep Zone. Spotlight the inside slot. This is important.

Re: How do you stop it?

Try your 335 Cover 4 play and user the FS over the inside receiver.
