2k and Relationships

I want to hear from the married os users

My gf absolulty thinks video games are the stupides things on earth. She hates me playing them even though they are not going to cause use to break up or anything.

About a week ago i told her i was going to be getting a new game. I know we are not married yet but we have that kind of relationship were we are already making financal decisions and things like that. So when i told her she told me know i wasnt going to get it and she was serious. She spent like 20 min. talking but basically it was all no you are not getting it because i just got madden and that im not getting a game until january (yea i know we are not even married yet but when it comes to here shopping im the same way lol). But there was no way i was not going to get this game so i told her well ok im going to get a game called elite 11 in january (knowing it may not come out and she will have forgot about it by then) and until then im going to play the game i have now called nba 2k11. So she like ok thats fine. I also told her that the 2k company always puts the following year of the year the finals are played for that season so she dont get supicious when she sees 2k11. Obviusly she knows not a single thing about games except that they are a waste of time lol

Now im not whipped or whatever else you want to call me but i am smart. i did this for the sake of saving an argument for something more important like her shopping lol. But on a more serious note is this or something like this what some of you guys thats in a serious relationship or married have to go through to play video games?

Re: 2k and Relationships

My girlfriend hates video games too, funny thing is though, she's buying the game for me. Something about how much she loves me and wants me to be happy, and she knows how much basketball means to me.

Now i'm a 21 year old grown man with a job, I could easily get the game for myself, but she insists on doing something nice for me. Even though she hates video games, and can barely stomach watching sports with me. Now that's love

My wife hates video games too. I can get her to play Rock Band from time to time, but that's about it.

If it weren't video games it would be something else like golf or football or some other hobby.

"Something about how much she loves me and wants me to be happy, and she knows how much basketball means to me."

It's called having something over you, young man.

I feel you man... I'm just lucky my GF supports me 100% for everything I do in my life. She's actually like games too. She owns a PSP and a iPod Touch to play games.

Being a sports fan, she's also willing to learn watching sports with me. That's why I love her to death..

Re: 2k and Relationships

My gf loves basketball (especially NCAA), and pretty much most sports. She loves to watch with me, and even will sit and watch me play often. But does get a kick out of how much basketball I watch and bball games I buy.

I actually went down prowling thru the BX today for a few hrs trying to score 2K11 early, and she volunteered to be my "taxi" as I hopped out frantically every time we saw a mom & pop game store, lol. No luck today though, tomm it's back at it again.

You might need to put your foot down though. Just the thought of anyone telling me I'm not getting this game is absurd. That's an argument, oh yes that's an argument we're just going to have then.

lol

It might be better to have her go into the stores. They may be telling you no even though they have the game. She could apply some of her feminine charm.

I have had that conversation about being supportive with the video games so many times with her. But everytime her answers are basically i support you in everything you do that is constuctive. Video games are not constuctive lol. But the fact that i hate that she feels that way i also understand where she is coming from because she is a female and no im not being sexist because females do play video games

Now i would not go through all this to play a game like cod, or halo because thats not my type of games but a game of 2ks caliber i just cant pass it up

What saves me though is her shopping. I use this as a argument. She goes to the mall like every 2 or 3 weeks and i just think its crazy for her to go like that spend more money then i do on video games and will wear something she buys then put it in the closet and wont touch it for the next month or so.
