FIFA 11 Career/Manager Mode Discussion and Impressions

I play (almost) exclusively in the offline manager mode (now called career mode).

EA have done a lot of publicity about how they have made "many" "improvements" to this mode this year. But some sites have lamented that the career mode is now a watered-down version (because it is the first year of a new way of doing the career mode).

So - would we say that it is better now (or better in FIFA10)?

I am excited about improved gameplay ... but I will be saddened if the player progression / transfer market / team strategy / edit kit numbers / scouting / coaching staff stuff is gone (or weak).

Agreed. Is it perfect in terms of depth and options? No. But so far, it addresses all the concerns from last year.

the one thing i´m wondering before digging in : How are new/youth players introduced into the game ?
So far i haven´t seen anything in the main screen that gives any indication here ?

Way worse. No more sponsorships or sending your scout to find new talent. The replay value went to zero when I found those out. I am taking my copy back to gamestop, it is sad how much they stripped this from last years version.

no the no scouting is a game killer. I like to build a 1/2 or 1 star team up with players that I scouted and go up in leagues. Without scouting or sponsorships for extra money, it is a big step down from last years.

How does EA expect me to "manage" a team and improve that team?

EA likes to leave things out ... so that they can put them back in later ... and then pretend like it is one of the new features for that year ...

Why would manager mode have *less* stuff in it this year?
