I can not stop Wes Welker

every time i play against NE (cpu) i get killed by Welker. I've tried zone, press, double. I tried Asomugha on him...
I can't figure it out. in my latest game he has 8 catches for 100 yards in the 1st quarter. i use tough sliders, but geez, nobody else beats me up like Welker. any suggestions?


by the way, anybody notice when you do a defensive assignment (ex. Aso on Welker), and you are in nickle coverage, your LBs go out wide to cover the wrs?

Its because he IS just that good....Does it IRL as well. Seems realistic to me.

The Pats are hard to stop with any team, but the Raiders really only have one cover DB (Aso, obvs). Your safeties aren't the best and your LB's are better at run support than coverage. That said, 8 for 100 in the 1st quarter is absurd - gotta be some missed tackles involved.

Assuming default rosters, here's how I'd gameplan for the Pats v Raiders:

Assign Asomughua to Moss
Double-team Welker, especially on passing downs
Don't rush more than four

Granted, that really limits your calls on defense, but 1. I'd rather have Welker go 8 for 100 and 1TD than Moss go 4 for 200 and 4 TD's, which is what he'll do if you leave him in single coverage, 2. their run game is not going to beat you, and 3. your LB's can handle their secondary receiving options. Double-teaming Welker will at least put two guys near him at all times, making it less likely he'll break a tackle and burn you on a short pass.

You're at a severe talent disadvantage, though, so any scheme you come up with is gonna leave some pretty big holes. Good luck.

i started dropping a LB on him as a manual double team and came up with a pick 6. yay for me.
still, even when he has good coverage on him, Brady force feeds him and he comes away with the catch.

I dropped Champ Bailey on him all game, that helped keep him in check.

then tell #2 and #3 Cb to cover them problem solved

How is he at beating the press? Can always try and play a Press Cover 2, and control the safety over top.
