Just got my first RROD on my 3 year old Elite..what are my options?

And of all games, it happened when one of my online dynasty games for NCAA was loading..

So, as I understand it, since my purchase date was 7/20/07, I'm basically screwed as mine is considered out of warranty....just barely. What are others experiences with asking MS to fix it for free if it's just outside of the warranty? I know they don't have to fix it, but I'm just wondering.

So, I either pay $100 for MS to fix it or I am considering a new slim. Can I buy one of the 4g slims for $199 and still use my existing HD in some fashion? If so, how does that work. Sorry, if this has been answered before. Or I can buy one of the new 250 gb HD slims. but I'd rather not spend that much if I can still use my existing HD.

Sorry, you can't use your current HDD with the new slim models.

You can try calling MS and seeing if they'll let you squeeze by with the warranty. Doubtful but with some complaining, luck, and a decent CSR, you might get it.

If not, nothing else to do but get a new system.

Yeah will just have to buy a new 360 and get one of those data tranfer kits to get the information from your old HDD to a new HDD.

You could also buy the non-slim arcade version for $150 (while supplies last) and slap your old hard drive on it. That might be better than paying $100 to get your old one fixed, since you'd get a better chipset, new warranty and a new controller.

Yea this would be a good option if you couldn't get the slim.

Are the $150 arcades known for RROD too? Or have they corrected them too?
