Re: Official Bugs/Glitches Discussion Thread
As with 2k9 and 2k10 on the Wii, the game does not calculate +/- correctly once it goes beyond +127. After +127, the next +1 puts it at -128. If you get a -1, it turns back to +127. If the player is at -128 and gets a +3, the rating is now -125.
I simmed a full franchise season, quitting and re-simming to get at least +2 every game, working my way up to +127 with Duncan Keith. There was great disappointment when he rolled over to -128 in game 58 of the season.
So, it seems there are 256 total possible values for the +/- rating, 0 to 127 and -1 to -128.
As a low-posting member, I'm unable to post links. So, I'll just mention that from looking on Wikipedia, "255 is a special number in some tasks having to do with computing. This is the maximum value representable by an eight-digit binary number, and therefore the maximum representable by an unsigned 8-bit byte." As a non-mathematics and non-CS person, I'm not sure what that means in terms of the programming within 2k9, 2k10, and 2k11. But something is wrong.
