Cole and Neale were awful when they did 2k's game a few years back. I mean truly dreadful. While I can see folks getting tired of some recycled commentary the challenge for EA is to expand the presentation elements so that it doesn't feel stale. Be it via showing other game highlights and having commentary for it during games, or some form of weekly wrapup show. Or merely adding more layers to the commentary thats already there.

I've heard alot of new dialog just in the demo mixed in with the old stuff, Thorne still has the best delivery in the business, I'd hate to see them get replaced. IMO I find Cole and Neale not very exciting in the first place to be honest.

RealmK,
I agree with you.. If you listen to Thorne whether it be his hockey broadcasts or baseball, He is the best announcer out there... I really feel that way and of course it's my opinion... Frankly, I am very tired of alot of the announcers broadcasts. Most of the time the announcers on CBS and Fox pull for a team and it's highly noticeable. I normally drink just so it calms me down while watching some of these broadcasts. Thorne IMO carries himself VERY well and has the same announcing wheter it be Colorado or Detroit

Totally agree, add to that Thorne just has an awesome voice and he sounds genuinely excited calling a big play, be it for the Orioles with baseball or in old clips when ESPN/ABC had hockey rights and still gave a crap about hockey. He's professional personified as well. The bonus to this, is this all carries over to the video game very well. Which I don't think it did for Cole and Neale, or Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda.

Thorne's delivery is so well done it doesn't even sound like he's reading from a script, it sounds like he's actually watching the game you're playing. That may be more so due to the EA team's ability with mixing or just their script in comparison to 2k's but regardless, its prolly not easy to make commentary sound genuine for a video game and he nails it.

Clement does a fairly decent job as well imo especially when he's talking about a teams style or breaking down what strat a team is employing. The commentary between the two of them flows very well and doesn't at all sound like just lines being recorded.

They should get the buffalo sabres commentator. Every time you score a goal, it'll be so funny lol.

They should just do what 2K does with the up to date commentary stuff with NBA today.

There won't be as much facts to focus on for NHL but they could still mention things like ___ being on a slump or ___ being a few points out of the division lead and stuff like that.

I wholeheartedly agree RealmK. The only thing I would wish for the future is that when Bill Clement makes one of his crazy trademark comparisons or spouts a classic one-liner that Gary would react or have a bit more interaction between the two. Right now all that happens is Bill agrees with Gary and that's it, there's no real interplay. However, if this were to break the system currently in place and make the commentary feel scripted, then it's not worth it.

I think they just need to get them in for more line readings.
