What is a SAM, MIKE, WILL, and JACK
i mean play football but i didnt play in a 3-4 system could anyone help me please i know mike and will are inside backers but is a will like the backup? would that be the backup on ncaa football

"Will" is the weakside linebacker and "Jack" and is often a hybrid DE/LB. Usually, teams that run a 3-4 defense look for college defensive ends that are too small to play the position in the pros and not quite fluid enough to play outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense as their "Jack" linebacker.

thanks man im making south alabamas team and all the real players with ratings im planing on walking on this christmas i need to know what these mean seeing as i play Linebacker hahaha

also would a jack be a rolb most likely i know a jack switches to the strong side but what would u suggest

i play in a 3-4 def in high school. will and sam are the outside linebackers. Sam obviously S for strong outside and Will obviously W for weak outside. now mike is the strong inside backer and Jack is the weak inside backer
