Imported NCAA Draft Classes

Well, I decided to do some experimenting in franchise after playing a quick game. (I need sliders :P)

I have simulated through 3 seasons, all 3 with NCAA Draft classes.

I'm having some major concerns... remember these are only for the imported draft classes. I haven't looked at the Madden classes yet. Those may be ok, and I may end up using those.

Quarterbacks: Only one quarterback has come in over 75 overall in the last 3 years. I won't mention who, but he is now an 80 overall. The 3rd and most recent class... BIG BIG problems. The ratings of EVERY qb drafted in the 3rd season... 59, 57, 57, 56, 56, 55, 54, 54, 52, 47, 34 .... This has me VERY worried.

Running Backs: Actually look pretty good. Star guys coming in around 80. Two of them have progressed into the 90s already. Everything looks good here. Minus one thing.... players don't hold true to what they are. Noel Devine came in as the second best player in his class at running back... which makes sense. BUT his speed is 88... UMMMMMMMMMM????? Yeah... problem there

Wide Receiver. Much like quarterbacks at first. The highest rated WR from the last 3 drafts is currently a 84. That's ok. Most star WR are coming in at the mid 70s and progressing slowly. Not sure where that's going.

---

Everything else looks. My only real concern is with the quarterbacks. I'm not sure if it's just my classes, or if this is a major problem. I'll go recreate all 4 classes in NCAA tomorrow and test it again. Hopefully will get some different results.

Other than this, everything looks pretty solid. (Stats look fantastic. Very realistic)

Edit: I think I found the problem. Almost every rookie from these draft classes have an awareness under 50. That is why the QB ratings are sooooo low, because awareness plays a big part in their overall rating. These quarterbacks have about 30 awareness which automatically drops them sooo far.

Re: Imported NCAA Draft Classes

Ok, well I just restarted and simmed one season again....

Again, big problems at quarterback. The highest rated rookie QB, 65 overall.

Jake Locker came in at a 62...

The main thing I'm noticing is that all of their awareness ratings are under 50, some as low as in the 20s... this is probably due to NCAA's awful ratings to begin with... but I'm not sure :/

OMG... now that I look at it, it's like that for every position.

Every rookie from these draft classes have an awareness under 60. Most are down around 30-45

The speed thing is annoying, these draft class issues are what I wanted to see the devs answer the most.

Apparently people are working on a program that will let you manually edit roster files in NCAA, then they can find out what causes what ratings to equal what in Madden and we could finally get good realistic draft classes.

This is what I was scared of. This along with no improvement to franchise mode is why I'm not buying Madden 11.

Thats pretty realistic IMO, if they just had fixed progression for AWR.

Re: Imported NCAA Draft Classes

Well with it being pretty much equal with QB awareness, maybe EA did that to simulate the struggles of a noob QB like Manning or Aikman.

If that's the case however, they should get huge AWR jumps in between year one and two; then it should just flatten out to regular progression.

I don't know, this has always been wonky on next gen. Just digging for some possible answers.

Another thing to look at would be the Madden gen guys. If they are programed the same way coming in, then that should give us a clue if they did that on purpose.

The speed dropping of players is the most annoying thing with any sports Dynasty/Franchise in any game. I hate that so much. But I like how things are actually looking somewhat better.

Re: Imported NCAA Draft Classes

The awareness rating doesn't bother me. It just effects the overall rating SOOOO much for quarterbacks that it is absolutely destroying their overall rating which makes it so CPU teams won't use them. So basically they are worthless

And remember, I did go 3 seasons. None of the rookie quarterbacks from season 1 progressed above a 75 in those three years...
