The best division in college football?

Who do you think is the best divison in FBS football? Is it the SEC West with the #1 Bama, #16 LSU, #19 Arkansas, #23 Auburn, Mississippi, and Mississippi State? Or is the other side of the SEC better with #3 Florida, #21 Georgia, Kentucky, USC, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt?

How about the Big 12 South who has dominated the Big 12 with #4 Texas, #8 Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State? Or is it the Big 12 North that is showing some improvements with #9 Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, and Iowa State?

Or is it the rising ACC Coastal with #6 Virginia Tech, #13 Miami, #17 Georgia Tech, #18 North Carolina, Duke, and Virginia? Or the ACC Atlantic that is somewhat getting a little better with #20 Florida State, Maryland, Clemson, NC State, Wake Forest, and Boston College?

Could it be the East or West out of Conference USA, or how about the MAC's East and West?

Who do you think is the best division?

For me, I would have to say the SEC West is because of their dominacne in the BCS Title Games. With Bama, Auburn, and LSU all being contenders year in and year out. Then Arkansas is getting better and better every year and now Mallet can lead them to a very successful year and possibly a SEC Championship/ BCS Title Birth. Its two lowly teams in Mississippi and Mississippi State aren't terrible teams by any means either and are probably the "best two worst teams in a division".

I think the ACC Coastal is in 2nd though. Maybe a little bias here, but I definitely think that this division is better than the Big 12 South this year. With as many ranked teams as the SEC West, it deserves some credit. But its too low team with Duke and Virginia bring the division down a bit.

The Big 12 South is my 3rd best division. Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech are all solid teams. But I don't feel that this division will be as dominate this year as the past few years. I honestly think that the Big 12 won't have a team representing it in the BCS Championship Game.

What are your thoughts?

The Atlantic Coastal should be really good this year, the problem is they'll beat up on themselves during the season and all be like 9-3.

I know, they'll all beat Duke and Virgina probably, then GT will beat Miami, while Miami beats VT, while VT beats GT, then UNC beats VT, then Miami beats UNC, etc. etc. They all have a chance to make the title game, even FSU(ugh), but in conference play they ruin each others chances.

Re: The best division in college football?

SEC west because of the balance top to bottom. Miss State had LSU on the ropes last year and lost on a goal line stand. That school up north lost to LSU in OT. State played both Florida and Alabama close in the first half and neither game was decided untill about mid 4th quarter.

I would agree with the OP and put the ACC Coastal second this year. I really think a lot of people are sleeping on Ga Tech and that may be a mistake. They were one of the most well rounded teams I saw come into Starkville last year and it didn't have anything to do with the RB they lost to the NFL...they're just good.

In terms of dominance over the other side, Big 12 south.

You could take the top 6 ACC teams and still wouldn't have a better division than the SEC East or Big XII South.

Best Division: FBS. Hands down.

Best Conferece: SEC, but the Big Ten is gaining on them

Best Interconference Division: SEC West. You've got the top gamers then the guys from Mississippi that always dreamkill on the other programs.

Probably not the SEC West, but I think the Coastal alone is better than the South, so the ACC's best 6 teams are definitely better in my eyes than the South.
