Sorry I just have to vent...

Just played the WORST online game I've ever seen. He was Florida I was Boise. I win the coin toss and kick. After failing to abuse Demps he goes for it on 4th down on his own 14. He fails, I take over and score.

On his next drive he calls a pitch play from some I formation, motions his fullback and has 3 more blockers than defenders and he picks up 40. Next play he calls a screen and I call man, but he just scrambles 20 yards back and outruns my blitzing corner with JOHN BRANTLEY, then throws the screen to Demps, who despite having man coverage called, had no defender within 10 yards and scores.

My guy drops the open 3rd down pass next drive so I punt.

He scores by cheesing the scrambling screen pass again, except this time my 2 defenders both miss the tackle. No, he didnt juke or anything, they MISSED him entirely.

Defensively he's using man coverage every single play.

I eventually take a 21-17 lead after I start using defensive keys to stop his pitches. With 2 minutes left I force 1. A 4 yard loss on his pitch, 2. a sack. and 3. An incompletion.

On 4TH AND 26 he scrambles 15 yards and bombs it to a receiver on the sideline, who despite being double covered managed to come out with the 27 yard completion. This was absolute bull. I had a cover 4, 2 outside zones, and QB contain yet he gets it off just before the DE sacks him.

I keep stopping his pitches but he continues to abuse the scrambling screen which must be an exploit because Moody and Demps never had a defender within 10 yards despite man coverage and flat coverage.

Needless to say he scores with 35 seconds left. I was pretty ticked at this point but I know I had one more drive.

I end up hitting 2 deep routes to make it to the 30 with 24 seconds left. I make it to the 10 with 17 left. On 3rd and 5 I call a pass from 4 WR set. He calls man coverage for the hundredth time, and ALL FOUR CORNERS RUN THE ROUTE BEFORE THE RECEIVER. ALL FOUR. Not sure what was worse, the 4th and 26 or this. Both were ridiculous.



Ugh. I'm not usually one for rants but I was so ticked after this. Had to post this garbage somewhere. sorry about the wall o' text.

Lol, well thats alright. I feel better anyway now that I know what I'm going to do next time. If I face a cheeser again I'm just going to put chew clock on the whole game and wait until 2 seconds are left on the game clock before snapping it. Every play. That way if I have a long enough drive I can eat 6+ minutes off, and annoy the crap out of them.

This is why I refuse to play online games. I can't stand playing against players that don't play fundamental football. When you don't punt and abuse programming gameplay issues in the game, it takes the fun out of the game and creates a huge gap between the video game and the game of college football that we love to watch on Saturday. I'm not saying that all gamers must conform to the traditional rules of football, but I refuse to subject myslef to it.

I sense your frustration. Kudos for not telling him to go blank himself and logging off. This is why I don't play online. I'm a traditionalist type of player. I scramble when needed. I'm taking three or seven steps back and timing my routes and I mix bag my play calling even on defense. I try to play as if I'm on the sidelines or in the OC/DC booth. Alot of online guys don't play with strategy they just run and gun it. Running the same play over and over? Even my seven year old son doesn't do that. I would have just had a stroke playing that guy.

Just a suggestion if your guys aren't covering his RB on the screen why didn't you take your guy andcover him? Not trying to be mean or anything but after the 2nd or 3rd time thats what I would have done

The good thing about this game, unlike past iterations, is you can play fundamental ball and compete. I played some guy that tried the same thing with Ohio State... I blitz corners and play zone and take one of the linemen and just run with the RB. He never got past the 50 and quit before half. On offense I just had 2 long drives, using 1st 2nd and 3rd down to methodically move down the field and frustrate him.

I tried that a couple times, unfortunently I have very little practice user tackling as I see how many big gains it gives up for many who try, and I ended up doing a poor job covering him. I do intend to practice more at it though as it seems to be necessary.

I agree with l1mpy. There's no doubt you can compete and win many games playing sim. I've never ran into anybody I flat out couldn't stop. Just guys I couldn't stop when I needed to, although like this situation its more bad luck than anything.
