ACC Media Days: VT pick to win the ACC, Christian Ponder Preseason POTY

Warchant.com - Ponder picked as ACC Player of the Year

ACC Media Predictions by division

Atlantic:
FSU
Clemson
Boston College
N.C. State
Wake Forest
Maryland

Coastal:
Virginia Tech
Miami
Georgia Tech
UNC
Duke
Virginia

This is the first time I think I remember Duke not being the consensus last place pick since like 1996.

As for the ACC Preseason POTY voting Ponder absolutely ran away with the voting:

Quote:
ACC Player of the Year
1. Christian Ponder, Florida State 45
2. Ryan Williams, Virginia Tech 16
3. Tyrod Taylor, Virginia Tech 11
T4. Russell Wilson, NC State 6
T4. Robert Quinn, North Carolina 6
6. Joshua Nesbitt, Georgia Tech 4
7. Kyle Parker, Clemson 3
T8. Mark Herzlich, Boston College 2
T8. Jacory Harris, Miami 2
T10. Montel Harris, Boston College 1
T10. Darren Evans, Virginia Tech 1
T10. Bruce Carter, North Carolina 1
The ACC also included CP7 for Heisman materials in the Press Package given to reporters. Amazing how now that Bobby Bowden is gone the ACC is fully backing FSU in something........

The ACC media hasn't picked the correct winner of the Atlantic Division since 2005, mostly because they keep picking FSU, and FSU keeps failing.

Didn't we beat VT last time we played them?
If we play to our potential, I see us winning the ACC this year.

Coincidentally, they also have a team talented enough and worthy of receiving significant preseason praise for the first time in several years.

No surprise that Tech is the ACC preseason pick. If they do win it, however, it won't be a cakewalk getting there, and I'm thinking that no team in the ACC is simply going to waltz through its schedule this year.

That is the key phrase for every college football team. So many teams don't live up to their talent or potential and it is tough to watch as a fan.

Whoever wins the ACC will be a very strong team who is consistent. That is the key for the conference as there are really no absolute cake walks of games.

My prediction is the winner of the coastal division will win the acc, but the conference winner will have only 9 victories going into the championship game. Just too tough of a road to finish undefeated or with 10 or 11 wins.

If VT plays to their potential I'm sure they can win the ACC also.
