Surprise players/teams

Players and teams that will be great that aren't expected to or are little known.

Both of these 2 were backups but will start this year.

Players: QB Steven Sheffield, Texas Tech. Guy's a beast, and energizes the team. Went 9 for 11 in the bowl game, only 2 incompletions were drops. Threw for 474, 6 TD against K-state.

QB Zach Collaros, Cincinnati. Great passer, great runner, great leader, etc.

RB Fozzy Whittaker, Texas. Clone of Jamaal Charles, and now that they'll be an I-formation run team he will get to show it.

Team: Cincinnati. They have Collaros and a defense that has nowhere to go but up.

Mike Ford. Homer pic, yes, but it's the truth.

Not sure on players, so I'll do 2 teams.

1. Cal

2. SMU

FSU LT Andrew Datko, in 2009 he only allowed 3 sacks and committed 3 penalties. He doesn't necessarily look the part, but he is one of the best OL's in CFB and should get the respect he deserves this year.

I saw them against Nevada and they absolutely dominated them despite being heavy underdogs. If they keep at that level they can win a lot of games.

Re: Surprise players/teams

The only way Fozzy is a clone of JC is his speed and moves. I haven't seen him find holes and break tackles though.

Tre Newton- Texas
&/or
Marquise Goodwin

He's still our best back by a long shot. I Remember against OU when the o-line was god-awful, he was basically the whole offense that game, I think he had 100 yards. Does nothing but produce, just doesn't get the ball enough.

Goodwin's a beast returning the ball. He should be a great PR this year. Decent hands too.
