Passing System

For a good while now (years actually) most gamers keep asking for real control and less animation driven gameplay. I also am a proponent of this.
Anything that puts more control in my hands and then ALONG WITH RATINGS give us the end results, I'm all for.

I want coaching (play calling / personnel ) to also play a big role as I think someone with better knowledge of the sport should have a
slight upper hand vs those that don't...so yeah there is a fine line we need to maintain.

So with all that said, why isn't the same voice or "cry" being spread to give us a new and improved passing system. Is everyone really satisfied with the control we have in the passing game?
I personally loved Fevers Read and Lead system. It wasn't perfect at all but man you felt great when YOU had a good passing game. Main issue was the cursor was too slow and some other minor things but at least it was an option.

Anyways right now we can do a bit of leading a WR etc.. but nothing really more than a feeling of a dice roll for results.

I'm really hoping in the near future EA at least tries to get some freshness and try something new AS AN OPTION. We'll probably never get rid of the Hit X for WR X but for those that want something more it would be a nice addition get in and tweak over the years.

Re: Passing System

EA needs to bring back the vision cone, or implement a feature that makes the awareness rating of user controlled quarterbacks relevant.

I wish they did it the way backbreakers did but use the buttons to throw to a receiver rather than the stick and the focus.

They should use the right stick to control where the QB is looking. The QB should still be able to throw to a player accurately that isnt in the camera angle but its dangerous because you dont know about the coverage. This would create a blindside which is the main thing that Madden is missing right now. It would really balance the Madden offenses that are light years ahead of Madden defenses.

There have been tons of threads on this. I know I have been wanting a new passing system, for like forever.

The "God view" is really stale. When you actually stop and think that since the 8-bit era, the passing mechanic on Madden has not changed at all, you realize how dire a change is needed. It's almost unfathomable that in 20+ years, there has been no evolution to the zoomed out, hit the corresponding button for the right receiver dynamic. And it isn't just Madden. 2K, though their passing system is still infinitely better than Madden's to me, also uses the same stale mechanic.

I know people hate the camera view in Backbreaker, but I love it. They weren't afraid to try something different and try to inject more realism and innovation into the genre.

In short, I am in favor of any new mechanic that would simulate a QB making his progressions of targets, instead of being able to hit one button to throw to any receiver, anywhere on the field, at any time, in every situation. Whether that is the VC, or the Backbreaker camera, or something else that hasn't been thought of yet, I'm all for it. The passing game, more than any other facet of gameplay, needs a shot in the arm.

I also have my own ideas of what type of passing mechanic I would like to see as well.

Re: Passing System

The only passing system I think they can use without change the camera are the game,is read&lead as somebody else said.I like the vision cone but it piss off alot of people who couldn't get it.

That still is just "Hit X for WR X" passing. Plus there was never enough of a penalty in the cone system when throwing to a WR you wern't "looking at"

I want an option to throw anywhere on the field. That in itself will take care of underthrows/overthrows...

I loved that about John Elway, TV Sports FB and Fever...

Keep what we have but have some options.
