Franchise Q: Is it me or fair trades aren't really...'fair'?

Not sure if this is a bug, or whether its just my Angels franchise, or whether everyone has experienced the same thing, but are fair trades working, or...more specifically, really 'fair'? I have fair trades on in my franchise, and am looking for a SP. So I went through the trading block and just traded for Chris Volstad of the Marlins (plus Mike Montgomery for RP and another C), for C Jeff Mathis and RP Matt Palmer. And the trade bar wasn't even halfway, but full approval! I mean....Marlins to trade a young budding pitcher in Volstad for a weak hitting C Jeff Mathis?

Oh yeah, and was trading for SP Erik Bedard for RP Matt Palmer before...and probably would've been approved if only the Mariners didn't trade Bedard over to the other team!

I think it varies. The Marlins seem intent on trading Volstad in my franchise, it felt like every other day there was an offer in pending transactions until I finally let one thru that seemed fair enough. Then as an example of the contrary, I've tried giving up 3 A prospects in a position of need for one A prospect and had it turned down.

The trades are MUCH better this year than last year but they are still not great. They're good but not great. One terrible thing was the Marlins accepted Derek Jeter straight up for HanRam.

One thing I do want them to improve is to have all the major trades start maybe around mid-June on, rather than beginning of May. There's so many blockbuster trades happening around May that most of the good players are gone by the trading deadline. For example, the Yankees traded for Lance Berkman + Matt Lindstrom for three prospects on May.

Many times you can get away with some steals.

I traded some guys who are 28 years old, D overall, A potential and I got some MLB starting guys in return for them.

I did random fantasy draft and my team was 28th going into the season but due to trades and stuff they ended up winning WS. Fair trade was enabled too. Though in a few years when I have to pay everyone their full contracts, it'll suck.

uhm...so is that really fair? I can understand getting some steals, but steals don't come by too often in a season I would think. The only greatest steal I've seen happen the last 3 years is the Angels trading for Mark Teixeira for 1B Casey Kotchman!

I think the trades on this game are pretty good. I play on 1 team control, so it could be different with 30 team control. There are some not so good trades, and then there are some perfectly placed trades for both teams, and then there are trades that look bad for one team but actually end up better than you might imagine. It happens in real life to

Pedro for Delino Deshields
Bagwell for Larry Anderson
Ortiz for David Hollins
John Smoltz for Doyle Alexander
Bobby Abreu for Kevin Stocker
Both Sammy Sosa trades
That crazy Bartolo Colon trade
AJ Pierzynski for Nathan, Liriano and Bosner
Lowe and Varitek for Slocumb
Bedard for half a team
My A's sending McGwire to St. Louis for uhm, well let's just say not much
That's ok because we got Haren, Barton and Calero back from them for Mark Mulder

6 slightly above average years for 1 slightly below average month (Ortiz for Hollins) =/= a steal.
A Hall of Famer for 1 ridiculously good month (Bagwell for Andersen) == a steal.
