Why isn't this being mentioned more: Playing D-Line

Playing D-Line is impossible because they if you are controlling them, they won't get out of their stance until half of the damn play is over. Everybody is bitching about built-in aspects of the game (camera, passing) when something like this, a glitch that takes away 4/11 of the positions on defense is getting hardly any notice. What's the deal?

Anyways, loving the game otherwise. Just wish it would get some more support both from the devs and community (as far as online and purchasing).

There are so many problems it's hard to decide which ones to talk about.

Re: Why isn't this being mentioned more: Playing D-Line

You have to time the snap and watch the center. The movement won't be immediate, but it will give you enough time to read the OL and allow you to make some moves. Obviously, if you're going up against 2 OL you're going to have a very difficult time splitting the two or pushing your way into the pocket, but try it first with the RE on LT to get comfortable with it. You'll tend to notice that it becomes a mini-game within itself: trying to throw of the LT with either power or finesse moves and playing cat & mouse with him. Even if you can't get to the QB or the RB, by pushing the pile back or causing pressure you still help your success rate immensely on defense.

It actually does work, just not as good as we'd hoped.

Re: Why isn't this being mentioned more: Playing D-Line

The D-line is actually done quite well. Like the poster above said, you have to time the snap and you will end up exploding off the line. If I have a DE with 80something speed and I time a good jump, I often just run a speed rush arc around the tackle and head hunt the QB. If its a run play and Im running that arc the tackle will come out and knock me down for trying to play the pass.

They actually made it so you cant attack both the run and the pass. And made it so there is a risk/reward system for timing the snap count properly. They have a proper pocket that sets up extremely well. They even made poorly rated Olinemen make mistakes on who to block when the defense audibles at the LOS.(good Olinemen dont make as many mistakes as often)

Seriously? Yall sound like you are placebo'ing it.

When I press up, the guy should begin moving. Even if I react late, I should still move. I will get blown up but I should still move.

Maybe I just notice it when on the FG block unit. It by default puts me on the line there. I can never get out of my stance when the ball is snapped. I never play d-line otherwise.

This has been mentioned and has been an issue for me, but there is a fix. Just move your guy before the snap, and he'll be in an upright position like everyone else.

There is no "timing" thing for this to get it right, it is unresponsive... like switching to the ball carrier after an interception, you aren't in complete control instantly.
