The 7 Million Dollar Fullback

Okay, so I started up a new career taking the Dolphins. I'm currently in year 3 and am at the point where players are popping up to work on signing extensions. My fullback, Reagan Mauia, is requesting a 3 year deal at averaging about 7mil per season. I don't think it is the old resigning bug, because the rest of my players are asking for fairly standard deals based on their age and talent. The only thing I can think of is that I moved Ronnie brown to fullback because I got tired of his always being hurt. I thought, if I limit his touches to quick fullback hand offs and for resting the starter I might get more use out of him while waiting for his deal to expire. So, my best guess is Brown's high salary while at the FB position is driving up Mauia's demands. Has anyone seen something like this before?

wow, have never seen that. Sometime to be cheap i move a hb who needs to be resigned to fullback temporarily, but I have never had a high salary convert drive up the prices for the "real" fullback. Something to look out for.

Re: The 7 Million Dollar Fullback

Played Miami a several careers he never asked for that, is he still your FB or is he your starting RB.

Mauia is a very good FB in the game, good short yardage FB and can catch out of the backfield, make steh probowl jsut about every year for me. He is not cheap for a FB but other than converting a TE to FB I have never found a FB better than him since he is an 89/90 FB.

Re: The 7 Million Dollar Fullback

Actually, I hated to do it, but I took advantage of a little loophole to resign him to a moderate one year deal. Normally, I try not to use it, but in this case I made an exception. Brown left via free agency, so I wanted to see if his demands were a little more reasonable this time around. I just didn't want to lose him, I was planning to draft Okoye to have 600+lbs of running back in the same backfield . But after scouting, I ended up drafting LaMarcus Taylor instead. He just seemed to be the better back. When it comes time to resign players, I'll let you know what his demands are.

Oh, and he is my fullback, never used him as a RB.

Is your trainer any good? If you sub Brown out before he gets tired he stay pretty healthy. Sub him at moderate or low fatigue, yes he's out for fatigue alot but it usually keeps him healthy. You just need another solid back to switch with him.

WOW!!! I have never had that happen before, but having Ronnie Brown at Fullback could have made that happen... But even though Mauia is a monster at fullback u may just need him to leave and try to sign him back...

On the other hand I have had back-up Quarterbacks ask for outrageous demands, I just try to find someone willing to play at the price they deserve...

Re: The 7 Million Dollar Fullback

Well, this time around he only asked for 3 years with a total of 2.8 million. So, I guess whatever it was fixed itself. Around a million a year is just fine by me.

Re: The 7 Million Dollar Fullback

i have the dolphins also. i resigned him to a 3yr $1.6mil contract. so moving ronnie probably affected it. then consider how much better he is compared to ronnie at fb and the salary ronnie is making. those could have been factors.
when i had ricky, i tried my best to even out the carries. but when one of them got injured, it instantly caused the other to get injured. i let ricky go and used the #9 selection(aquired from car when i traded the #1 pick) to draft ozzie jones. he has emerged as the starter and i actually get more out of ronnie as a backup. i also lucked up on cj2k on waivers. he is an underrated but excellent back who runs north and south. this is something i yearned for due to the speed of sum linebackers. ozzie is good but he dances too much. i also dont have any coaches with the special skill of better ball carrier moves because of that.
does anyone know if boar jackson is worth the risk? i want a short yardage back for the long haul. i see he is compared to lt. if i can get a back that can pound and do more, why not draft em. so should i trade up for em?
