No Injuries... I'm glad

Hey folks,

unfortunately, injuries didn't make it into the game. But I think it's great that they are not in. I couldn't find the statement of one of the developers, but I recall them saying that injuries didn't make it in because they didn't have time to implement a good injury system.

Now what that means is they refused to put in a random injury system. I love this approach. When seeing this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4FPMf5vf58 ) from the demo video thread... Guess the potential IF injuries will be in e.g. Backbreaker 2... I guess they will define unnatural movement of body parts and then this will result in injuries... some sort of formula of impact, force, direction of force etc...

Now in that video you see a potentially season ending injury to the QB... If they program an injury system based on what the results of their physics engine are... that is going to be SICK...

But still, I'm glad they rather don't have injuries implemented into their first installment rather then implement some random system that makes you wonder why an injury occurs...

Although I didn't play the game yet (ps3 owner) - from the videos I have seen so far: Physic driven engines have to be the future of sports games...

They didn't have time to put in an injury system??? Hasn't this game been in development for years and years and years and years? If EA did this with a sports title they would be flamed to death.

Yes, they would. However this is the first try, unlike madden and NCAA which have been around for decades. So you have to hold Backbreaker to a different standard. Take the good with the bad. Of course it won't be nearly as polished, but the physics are amazing and the gameplay feels extremely organic, despite its flaws.

Re: No Injuries... I'm glad

Honestly, I'm ok with the lack of injuries solely because of the futuristic player models.

I can accept the idea that the game represents a future world. I'm just hoping that franchise mode doesn't mention a specific year and ruin that.

Backbreaker 2 had better have them though.

really?.. so because the game is new that gives the game reason to leave out something that happens everygame small or big?... thetas horrible seems to me like ur giving them a way out or a reason to make a horrible unrealistic game ... no fatigue or injuries thats unacceptable ... people get on the other game for leaving out hand warmers colorful socks an half time shows but people r glad or fine with a football player never getting injured or fatigued .... damn shame ...

Re: No Injuries... I'm glad

I'm not glad injuries aren't in the game. They are a major part of football, period. Injuries have been a basic thing in games for as long as I can remember, time or being new is not an excuse.

This rational is like having a paper due in class and telling the professor sorry I don't have it because I wanted to have a good paper and didn't have time to do a good paper. And I'm new so I should get a break.

If they have franchise, they should have fatigue and injuries. No real way to justify it in my opinion.
