MLB '11 The Show UPDATE
This year, I'm redoing the All-Time rosters for each franchise, not just for the Major League Team, but for the Minor Leagues as well.

After thinking long and hard, I decided that I think it makes things more fun when a guy is only on one team. For example, when I do a season, I don't want to see A-Rod leading the league in HR's with 3 different teams. That's no fun to me. So, I won't be doing doubles. I apologize to those who like having clones in the game...but I don't. So, the rule for my rosters was once again one guy to one team. Luckily, it's easier to alter this year if you want to make changes.

I used Bahnzo's Roster Tools for the MLB '10 version (which I'm importing ratings from) and the Neyer/James Guide To Pitchers, as well as various internet pictures and sites like Baseball Reference to try and get them as accurate as possible. Big thanks to those had ready-made players in the vault. It helps cut down the workload.

I also plan on filling the minors with players that didn't make the main roster. That way, if you don't like the roster, you can alter it if you like with other guys waiting in the wings. Plus, minor league games might also be fun to play. Like last year, I will post teams as they are finished.

I would love to do it that way, but I'm constantly changing the rosters as I go along when I decide that one player would better fit on one of his other teams. I've completed the Baltimore Orioles all the way down through their minor league teams with random players as well, but decided to just do the 25 man rosters and then go back later and do the minors. Also, some players that are usually starters have been relegated to the bullpen to get them on the team. As of right now, here's what's done so far:

Even these are subject to change, as I feel I have been lazy in parts. I'll post the other teams when I complete them. I ran through a Red Sox/Yankees game to try some of the guys out and I'm pretty happy with the CAPs I think. Keep in mind that this is like a rough draft so far and I'm going to go back and smooth out the edges on each team. However, suggestions for the rosters are welcome.

I have done this for High Heat, and MVP 05. Over at MVP mods I had been working on a total conversion for this, and am about 75% finished with it, but The Show kinda took my attention away from MVP. Not sure if I will ever finish it at this point, but I LOVE playing with classic all time rosters. I have the rosters done for MVP, and can still play if I get the itch, I just don't have all of the extras done that go with the total conversion.

I really don't feel up to doing it all again for The Show, plus I am not all that excited about doing it on a console... So I will be very intersted to see your rosters...

I tend to be in the minority about using players on more than one team, as my rosters have it (Ruth in the rotation for the Red Sox, and at the plate for the Yankees intrigues me... It's like the ultimate battle... One of the best lefties of his era, and one of the greatest hitters of all time, and it's the same person.. Who wins out?).

I mean, you can't really have Seattle without Randy Johnson, and you can't really have Arizona with out him either... Also, my guess is that many Angels fans consider Nolan Ryan one of their all time pitchers... I aslo bet that many Astro and Ranger fans feel the same way...

Anyway, that's just my opinion, and I will still be trying your out when they are finished. Good luck, and can't wait

Yeah, I've gone back and forth on the player on multiple teams issue. Nolan Ryan is the one player I had the hardest time deciding on, as I feel (like you do) that he could have been on any of those 3 teams. Right now, I have him on the Angels, but I change my mind every time they show him on MLB Network doing something for one of the other teams.

Randy Johnson is tentatively listed on the Mariners right now, but it is tempting to put him on the D-Backs. But, for this draft, at least, I'm only going to do the one appearance. I just feel that I want to include as many different players as possible. There may be a point when I can do 2 versions once this first draft is done, one with only the one appearance and the other with guys having multiple appearances on different teams.

I always wanted to play this on MVP 05 and followed the project over at the MVP Mods website, but could never allow myself to pay the ungodly amount of money that the CPU version costs, even used.

Now, the plan is that once this is done, to do a Classic Teams roster using this as a base to work from. While I'll probably only be doing teams from 1975-present, I have no problems using multiple players on classic teams rosters. Making the 1986 Mets and 1981 Expos without Gary Carter or the '75 Reds and '80 Phillies without Pete Rose on one or the other would kind of destroy the concept.

Anyways, I plan on finishing the White Sox today, as I have only the pitchers left to do. I took yesterday off, only doing a couple of guys during a period of boredom. I'll post the Chicago White Sox 25-Man Roster when I'm done.

This is a great idea. I know as a Ranger's fan I'm biased, but Nolan deserves to be on the Rangers. I know he pitched more for California and Houston, but he chose the "T" on his cap in the Hall of Fame, and many of his career record breakers came at Arlington Stadium. He's also about to own the Rangers if Tom Hicks will get off his golden throne.
