A LOOK AT THE TEAM
Quarterback
The Chiefs are set with what they feel is their QB of the future. Matt Cassel is going to be the starter on opening day unless an injury takes it from him. Tyler Thigpen and Brodie Croyle are the backups, two that hopefully will not have a chance to see the field. A huge positive: All 3 QB's are 27 years old or younger.
Running Backs
While Larry Johnson is the starter, his problems on and off the field might just be enough to send him packin. With Jamaal Charles waiting his turn and appearing to be the future of this squad, he may get his chance sooner than expected. Kolby Smith and Javarris Williams also are available if needed, although one of them may be cut before the start of the season, if not Johnson.
Wide Recievers
Dwayne Bowe is good. Enough siad. From there it falls off. Toomer and Engram, although quality recievers a few years ago, are past their prime and falling off and the years pass. Mark Bradley is young and has good agility and acceleration. Other than that, Darling, Copper, and Lawrence will be waiting to see who will fill the 5th roster spot.
Tight Ends
Brad Cottam and Sean Ryan. Does that scare you? Didn't think so. 2 below average TE who will hopefully live up to more than expected. A trade or Free Agent may be pulled in to fill this void.
O-Line
Young talent in Brandon Albert will help in the left tackel spot and veteran talent in Brian Waters will be enough in the left guard spot. But center Rudy Niswanger, right guard Mike Goff, and right tackle Damion McIntosh have alot to prove. Needless to say, alot of the handoffs will be going to the left.
D-Line
Rookie Tyson Jackson and RE Glenn Dorsey should provide good strength on the ends and they are both very young and hold a ton of potential. If DT Ron Edwards can step up, the D-Line might be a top 10 run stopping machine. We can hope!
Linebackers
Demorrio Williams is set to start at LOLB but he will need to prove it during the pre-season. MLBs Derrick Johnson and Zach Thomas are studs, although Thomas is getting up there in age. Hopefully backup Corey Mays will show he can take over when needed. Mike Vrabel, although old, is still a great tackler and has great play recognition.
Defensive Backs
All very young but have some promise. Flowers has a ton of potential and does Carr. Safeties Page and Pollard will have to make sure to keep the plays in front of them as even though they are only 3 year vets, they are the leaders of the secondary.
Kicker/Punter
Succop...sucks. He has good potential though so he will be given his chance. Punter Dustin Colquitt on the other hand is above average and hopes to keep up his great play over the past few years.
