Re: DENVER NUGGETS ASSOCIATION

November 14 2009 I Denver Nuggets (2-0) @ Sacremento Kings (1-2)
Evans explodes and hands Nuggets their first loss
Kings 112, Nuggets 110

The Nuggets headed to Sacremento for their first away game and found that it was a lot different than playing at the Pepsi Centre. At home both the Timberwolves and Jazz let the Nuggets take control of the game early but the Kings had a different idea. They came out firing and rookie sensation Tyreke Evans was leading the charge. He had 15 in the first quarter and really looked like he was going to trouble the Nuggets.

The Nuggets were trailing by 9 at the start of the second quarter and spent the second playing catch up. They got close but then Evans or Bell would knock down a three and put a holt to all the Nuggets momentum. Carmelo Anthony was putting in his usual MVP like performance but if the Nuggets were going to come back they’d need something special. Billups was struggling with his shot but lucky for him JR Smith was picking up the slack.

It was tight throughout the fourth but the Nuggets eventually climbed back. With 48 seconds to go the Nuggets trailed by 6, they brought the ball up the court and Melo hit a three. The fouled Evans he made his free throws and the Nuggets then hit another three through Billups who had finally found his shot. Billups hit another three then Evans missed a free throw. They were within reach at 107-110 with 13 seconds to go. Billups fired another three and lived up to his name of Mr Big Shot. The game was tied at 110-110 and Evans scored off a layup. With no timeouts the Nuggets had to bring the ball up the court with 3 seconds remaining. Billups fired another three trying to hit his fourth straight but was unsuccessful.

The Kings deserved the win and really showed their potential. Coach Karl looked pretty disappointed after the loss and slammed his big men for not dominating the paint. But he then went on to say “sometimes a player has his night and he can’t be stopped and tonight was Tyreke Evan’s night”. The Nuggets face the Spurs next and will look to redeem themselves after this loss.

Re: DENVER NUGGETS ASSOCIATION

Hey all it Ty here again. I guess you all saw our tough loss against the Kings and my fellow rookie Tyreke Evans absolutely rip it up. I know Tyreke a little bit and was really happy for him to step up like that, but to bad it had to come at the Nuggets expense.

After a terrible second game I sought of redeemed myself and got off some shots. Coach was happy with my performance and liked my play calling. I also racked up 4 assists which is good because when I got drafted everyone thought all I could do is driver to the hoop. I like proving the doubters wrong and hope I can do a little more of it as the season progresses.

Below is a snapshot of my favourite play of the game. As you know Tyreke was on fire and I wanted to take the game to him. I found some space and put up the shot. When it first happened I thought Evans was going to block it because he’s huge for a point guard. However maybe all that practice paid off and I nailed it. The next games against the Spurs and I hope you all stay tuned.

Ty Out!

Re: DENVER NUGGETS ASSOCIATION

November 26th 2009 I San Antonio Spurs (1-0) @ Denver Nuggets (2-1)
Nuggets Destroy the Spurs
Nuggets 126, Spurs 98

The Nuggets faced the Spurs at home desperate to show that the loss against the Kings was a one time occurrence. The first quarter was evenly matched between the teams with both teams scoring well. The Spurs were even crashing the offensive boards and really looking like they could hand the Nuggets their second straight loss. However that quickly changed as the match went on and the Nuggets quickly ran away with the match.

The Nuggets big men in Kenyon Martin and Nene just kept driving to the basket and getting all the looks they wanted. This really turned the match and gave all the momentum to the Nuggets. Carmelo Anthony had a near triple double and JR Smith was unstoppable off the bench.

In the fourth all the Nuggets starters were benched for the whole quarter. This gave rookie Ty Lawson, Chris Anderson and others to get a lot of minutes and they didn’t disappoint. They bench players kept the momentum going and did not let up on the Spurs. Also Malik Allen healed from his injury and got a few minutes as well as Anthony Carter who got his first playing time of the year. The Nuggets face the Rockets next and look to continue this great form.

Re: DENVER NUGGETS ASSOCIATION

Hey peoples. I love all the support this blog is getting and I hope it continues. The team had a great game against the Spurs and I almost got a double double. But statistics aren’t important to me its how the team performs that matters.
When Coach looked back at the tape he was really happy that I looked for my teammates before I tried to find a shot for myself. One problem in my game at the moment is getting over half court. It sounds easy but other teams have obviously picked up on it and they really put pressure on me. I haven’t made the mistake of turning it over yet but honestly it does make me a little nervous.
Anyways I’ve been working on it in training and Chauncey and AC have really been helping me. I was really happy to play with AC against the Spurs. He took a lot of the pressure off me and even set me up for a trey. Anyways catch you after the Spurs game.
Ty Out!
