Now that Acceleration is as important as Speed....

Which NFL players might have really good Speed but low acceleration ratings?

I'm curious because when you look at 40 time breakdowns, most guys run between 1.5 and 2.1 in the first 10 yards. It's usually this first 10 that determines how well a guy runs.

Are there really any top speed guys that have low acceleration?

I know one. Before he died, Chris Henry was an absolute burner. He didn't have that great acceleration, it was his long strides that got him separated from the coverage.

Brandon Jacobs has low acceleration, but once he gets going can really run fast.

Randy Moss is the prime example.

Re: Now that Acceleration is as important as Speed....

Well, even if someone may feel the need to disagree with my opinion,

TED GINN
Don't get me wrong, he has speed that makes catching him from behind a dream, but his extremely long strides seem to prevent him from getting up to his top speed as fast as some other players.

And this doesn't mean that i'm saying EVERY player in the NFL with long strides has slow acceleration, Ted Ginn is just one of them.

Re: Now that Acceleration is as important as Speed....

I do know, on the flip side that Wess Welker is a great example of low top end speed but high acceleration. With the new locomotion Wess is even more of a beast than he was in Madden 10. His high acceleration and agility mean that screens and short paterns are where he can explode just like real life. Breaking tackles is important, but so is just making people miss. Welker makes people miss.
