Some thought that Martinez beat Paul Williams. Can he beat Pavlik?

Lou DiBella, who promotes Martinez, compared his fighter to Carlos Monzon. Pavlik's trainer Jack Loew said "He wouldn't know Carlos Monzon from Gorilla Monsoon."
I think Martinez will be somewhere in the middle. I think it will be a tough fight for awhile but I don't see Kelly losing. I also don't see Sergio surviving past the 8th round.

I don't know where Pavlik is right now. He will certainly be motivated. He has a golden opportunity to dispel the rumors that he was afraid to fight Williams, particularly if one of those big right hands find Martinez.

The fight is free HBO and it includes Lucian Bute against Edison Miranda at super middleweight. Doesn't seem to be much interest on this board for two top notch fights for free!

Martinez showed me a lot against Paul Williams, and if he is able to bring that to the table against Pavlik, he may pull off the upset. I like Martinez in this fight. I think his movement and counter punching will frustrate Pavlik.

Counter punches and movement aside, Sergio gets hit a lot, and Pavlik can take him out with one punch. There are a long list of fighters who experienced there first KO loss at the hands of Pavlik. I know Margarito knocked out Martinez, but that was 10 years ago.
Martinez has movement, but no where near the craftiness of a Bernard Hopkins, and remember Pavlik is fighting at his optimum weight.
Sergio is world class, and deserves this fight-I just don't think he has the defense to pull it off and avoid getting KOed. But-I've been wrong before.
