RTTS: Have you ever said to yourself....

..."my team really stinks behind me". I have been saying this for two years now. It seemed like every time I got on base in RTTS my team just couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. So I did a little study. I tracked 5 weeks worth of games of my RTTS at the double a level. I tracked every at bat by my cpu team after I was on base, regardless of how I got on base (i.e. hit, error, fielder's choice). I stopped tracking once I was off of the base paths regardless of how I got off (i.e. scored, doubled off, picked off). Also, no regards to whether I hit in the order were paid. The manager moved me anywhere from 2nd to 6th and I hit close to .400 during this study. Here are the numbers:

From the beginning of the last week of May to the end of June my team had 80 ab's while I was on the base paths. They had 18 total hits, 7 walks, 3 hbp, 18 rbi, and an amazing 31 k's.

The simple numbers:

While I was on the bases my team had a BA of .225, slug% .300, and a k avg of .387.

For two years, no matter what team I was on and at what level, I always thought that my team sucked behind me. Now I'm quite sure. But I can't be the only one who has ever thought this. Surely, there are others. Any thoughts out there?

The one thing I've noticed is that I've never seen one of my teammates hit a HR while I was on base during RTTS...

Anyone score off of a teammates' HR?

Yea the guy right behind me in the order is tied with my guy for the league lead in HR, he hits them all the time when I am on base.

Re: RTTS: Have you ever said to yourself....

I'm batting second on my team and the 3rd and 4th guy are in the top 5 for homers so I'm on for a lot of there homeruns.

But I know what you are saying joesayso. Every team I'm on seems to struggle one way or the other. If the hitting is crap the pitching is doing good and vice versa. And I have lastings milleage batting after me and he strikesout 40% of the time.

As a SP, I literally get happy when I see my team with 5-6 runs, as I NEVER get run support. I feel like Roger Clemens in 2006 w/o the roids.

I know how the other pitcher feels, if I give up one run the game is over. But the defense kills me also because they NEVER give the computer errors so all the runs come around to score and then count against my ERA.

I am not bothered by those stats besides the fact that all the time they have the famed 7-12 pitch strikeout. Mainly the high strikeout rate bothers me.

80 at bats is a ridiculously-small sample size.
