Pro Yakyu Spirits 2010 Impressions, Translations, and Discussion Thread

Pro Yakyu Spirits 2010 is unleashed...

Use this thread to post impressions, get (or help with) translations, or just generally discuss this year's version.

Here are some nice long videos of the game in action:

The videos look nice...

The black loading screen seems less prevalent than I remember from PYS5, and it's unknown whether or not this person has used the install to HDD option. In truth it's a small issue, as I think I stopped noticing it pretty quickly in PYS5.

The biggest improvement I see over PYS5 (didn't play PYS6) is with CPU pitches outside the zone, as there seemed to be more pitches further away from the strike zone (as opposed to every pitch outside the zone being borderline). It could be a difficulty level thing, and maybe the game was on an easy level, I don't know... But it was encouraging.

One bad thing that stood out to me was the throw back to the infield after a hit... You see the ball on it's way to the cutoff man, then the camera changes scene while the ball is still in the air... Kind of sloppy looking, though it keeps things moving I suppose.

Having played the last two versions, these videos don't show a lot that is new. The pitcher motions look a little more realistic, there is a streak behind the ball, and it looks like pitcher is not tipping his hat after every strike out (which really bugged me). There are a few new batting stances as well but I'd say 80-90% of the gameplay animations are the same. All the overlays are the same though they did add some commentary each time a player comes to the plate for the first time.

It's still a buy for me since I want the new rosters with the guys coming back from the MLB (Johjima, Kobayashi, Taguchi, etc) as well as the new rookies like Chono with the Kyojin.

But if you're a newbie, I'd get 6 since it has WBC and will save you a few buck with a used copy on e-bay.

First time playing this one, I ordered mine from play-asia with shipping (almost $100 total) so I can get it by Monday. I'm pumped to try it out, even though I'm apt to stumble through the menus just to get to an exhibition game.

I checked today and no, but they have the download version for the PSP up for sale. Not that that's really relevant here. But for people wondering about importing the PSP disc version, here's a long video of it in action:

Impressive to say the least. I forgot what a little powerhouse that system is.
