Expectations...

Most likely... yours are way too high!

This is a first time game. No base to build on, nothing. Everything coded from scratch (well thats not completely true, have to say that or the CS guys will come screaming lol). Don't expect it to be the "Ushering in of a new era" or "Madden Killer"

Most importantly, don't expect this game to be everything you've ever wanted in a football game. I see that attitude at both forums, and all who have this attitude are "unimpressed."

This game looks great for a first attempt at the sport. So please try to look at it that way. As a first attempt.

Good point. But the way I think of it is this.....

1) Real life physics beats canned animations anyday.

2) No injuries are no big problem for me since injuries are pretty much gone in Madden (at least in Madden 10)

3) Possibly dumb AI in BB: Cant be any worse than Madden's super human AI.

4) No NFL License- I can create the NFL if I want.

5) Price tag- $50: Oh well, beats paying $60 for Madden.

6) Ian Cummings is someone I do not trust. He said last year it was impossible to fight for extra yards with Euphoria trying to make it like Pro-Tak was better. We all know now that it is false. And after the comments Peter Moore stated, I will not support Madden.

As long as this game is decent, I will be well satisfied. I am just hoping 2K Sports can pick this up some day, as it seems that Madden will not, since they would have to start way over and they cant with a year cycle.

Your reason for 2 is not very good, but I agree with everything else (except three).

Hoping 2k will pick this up is like hoping a frog will grow wings and fly.

Ain't gonna happen.

Kinda what I mean by unrealistic expectations. Stop looking at this game as a "Madden killer" or as the future of 2k. Just think of it as Backbreaker, a new game coming out May 18.

I do not look at is as a Madden Killer in any way, because unfortunately, no matter how bad the game is Madden will always be here.....unless they lose sole possession of the license to someone else.

Re: Expectations...

I hate comparing BackBreaker to Madden, it's like apples and oranges..but:

Madden 10 at E3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XMb6...eature=related

Backbreaker from IGN:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5h-9lkqRIKU

Side by side, Backbreaker's oline isn't much stiffer than madden. Player interaction is about the same, give Madden an edge in sound, (not a big fan of the commentary tho), give Backbreaker the edge in tackle animations.

Now think about this, this is Backbreaker's first game, Madden's 5th. Backbreaker has so much potential, I can't believe people talking about passing on it without touching a controller.

So true. I wonder how dumb they would feel hypothetically if Backbreaker released an injury patch? I wonder how many would go to the store and buy it up?

Re: Expectations...

What I expect is a fun and solid game which is all I need. If I can enjoy blitz(not solid but, fun) I can enjoy this game I'm sure.

One thing that is certain though that my expectations are high for is tackle alley. Should be very fun mode that I can't wait to play online. Might practice a bit offline for it first. Probably the first thing I'm going to play on BB.

I don't even play franchise mode so I'm definitely not worried about that. Might play online franchise but, offline that is a no no. I could care less about that mode but, I hope Its good for the people who do get a kick out of it.
