Re: The Race To Fame: A Story of Two Players

The Decision Came Early as this 21 year old pitcher had the choice of going into his Junior Year at Ohio State or going to the pros. He knew he wouldn't win a state championship so what was the use?? He entered early.

While he was watching the MLB draft he heard his phone ring the caller id was Brian Cashman, the gm of the New York Yankees, the World Series Champs, he answered the phone.

What was a short conversation was also hit best conversation as he had been drafted by the New York Yankees as a Pitcher!

Gentry not going to college? That seems to be the case after talking to him on the phone this morning. It seems he's decided to take the Red Sox up on their offer and will be joining them in the minors sometime right after graduation.

Gentry said, "I'm not going to lie and say money wasn't the main reason for skipping college. I've never had it (money). My family has never had it. My dad was playing catch with me when I was 4 years old. I'm gonna make sure I do something to give back to him and my mom."

As always, we will be here to keep you updated on his progress.

G Gentry just called me to let me know he would be assigned to the Portland Sea Dogs. He said he should arrive at the AA affiliate of the Red Sox by June 9th.

Re: The Race To Fame: A Story of Two Players

With Cody being sent straight up to AA he had a horrid performance.

.1 IP 2H 1ER 11PC 7B 4S

His curve was wild and it brought him the loss hopefully he can bring better stats as he progresses through Trenton

Re: The Race To Fame: A Story of Two Players

In his first full game as a starter Cody had his first AA win

8.2 IP 5era 12H 2BB

This was not a bad performance for Trenton but the fastball was the only thing working.

I have heard rumors that he trained on his curve and changeup over his rest.
