Real-Time Presentation clarification

OK, so I've seen numerous questions/concerns about RTP this year, how it works, etc (I've had the same inquiries as well). Well, I just had to get it all straightened out, so today I went to Best Buy (again, lol), and delved into all the menus (main screen and in-game), and I know have definitive answers on what exactly each presentation mode does and doesn't do. Hopefully this helps everyone out a little... here goes:

Like I said, if you go to the IN-GAME menu, it actually explains it a lot better.

1. Broadcast (default): This is the old presentation we've all come to know and love... but there IS a twist! It STILL incorporates RTP (you'll have the full, lively, dugouts, bullpens etc), the difference is, instead of during downtime getting camera shots of players going back to position, etc, you'll get some of the old classic cut scenes that SCEA has spent so many years perfecting. In fact, the cut scenes are the majority of what you WILL see, HOWEVER, there are times they will still throw in a little spice of RTP. An example would be, at the end of a couple innings, I got a nice arial shot of players jogging back to their dugout and taking the stairs down INTO the dugout. IMO, THIS is my favorite presentation, as we get the best of both worlds: Real Time presentation PLUS all of those cool cut scenes (mascots, players chatting, the first pounds after home runs, etc). And yes, you still have all your instant replays as well.

2. R-T/w Replays: This is exactly as you would think. You get the all new RTP (no cut scenes), BUT you'll still get instant replays and end of inning analysis (IE SCEA's new Show-Motion feature). For all of you strictly RTP guys who still want some of the bells and whistles of a real broadcast, this is probably the perfect mode for you. The only downside is you lose a lot of those extra details that were included in cutscenes... and you have to watch your player rounding the bases holding his helmet after every home run, lol (something that is NOT in Broadcast mode).

3. Real-Time: This is the easiest to explain. It's strictly Real-Time... ALL the time. After every play, the camera simply follows the players as they go back to their positions, get ready for the next play, etc. It does a great job, obviously, in making you feel like you're at the park, as nothing is pre-rendered, and you're seeing it all as it actually happens. The downside? You don't get ANY instant replays or, of course, replay analysis... again, EVERYTHING is Real-Time... always. And, just to make it clear, you'll always get that holding your helmet home run trot

So there ya go fellas. I'm hoping this clears the air for RTP, as I know many (myself included), have had tons of questions. RTP is part of the game NO MATTER WHICH PRESENTATION YOU CHOOSE, the presentation simply changes how this new feature is presented.

Have fun Tuesday!

Re: Real-Time Presentation clarification

Thank you for posting this. My question is more about what is missing in the RTP w/replays. I understand that everything is "live" and there are no cutscenes, but do you still get the overlays, score tickers, commentary, etc? Is the goal of RTP to replicate a real braodcast or is it more trying to "put you on the field"?

To me it seems like this feature wasnt implemented properly. Im not complaining as I have yet to experience it, but it is causing a lot of confusion and when the main concern is all that was removed from using it as opposed to all that was added by using it, im concerned.

Re: Real-Time Presentation clarification

Thanks for this. I think I'll be going RTP with replays. Best of both worlds.

Re: Real-Time Presentation clarification

Good post, I played around with it at BB and couldn't figure out what was changing and what differences I was seeing.

You STILL get all the stat overlays, etc, so no worries there. And you still have commentary, score tickers, and all of those presentational things as well. What you LOSE are the prerendered cutscenes, that is all. Then, depending on what RTP you choose (with or without replays), you then either get, as it says, replays or no replays. Again though, it does NOT affect stat overlays or things like that.

I do agree though that, since it is a first year thing, it does feel somewhat... "unfinished", which is why I said that to me, Broadcast is my favorite, as you get the best of both worlds... the real time stuff with players actually going back INTO their dugouts, and a couple shots of players returning to position, but you still get all the sweet replays AND the cool "small detail" cutscenes that The Show is known for.
