Insanely dumb move by the Jets. I expect him to be a Patriot and help them repeat as division champs.

I doubt it. He probably still wants that big pay day, he still wants to be paid like he was going to be before that injury.

SD is going to want someone for a cheaper price than what Jones is probably going to want. It'd be nice to have a veteran on the squad from FA that still has some gas left though IMO. Overall I don't see SD really going after him plus Jones being 28 coming off that season ending surgery...doesn't sound like AJ would be the guy take a chance on him.

Edit: Also this info should probably be in the FA thread. No need to clutter up the forum when we can have one entire thread on FA but, Its whatever. =b

I pretty much disagree with you in all facets.

I don't think he will be asking that much, he is going to have to have realistic expectations based on his age and injury history.

I'm sure he would prefer a contender over a non contender and I don't see why if given the choice, he wouldn't pick SD.

And depending who the Chargers get in the draft, he could be a nice compliment in the backfield.

Its just speculation on my part. We'll see though. I wouldn't be surprised If he didn't go after anyone in FA.

Its already hard enough just picturing AJ signing a FA that anyone really knows about plus SD has so many important FA's already that needs to be signed. Just because, Washington may want to go after a contender doesn't mean AJ will pick him up. There are plenty of other contenders and other upcoming teams with potential for the playoffs. I'm not saying he wouldn't be a nice pick up but, It would be a risk and AJ doesn't like taking to many of them.

AnyGivenSunday I think you're confused about who this is. You call him Jones in the first post but Washington in the second. Washington is 28 and coming off the season ending injury like you said. However, this thread is about Thomas Jones age 31 being cut by the Jets.

Damn straight he can't get no respect in this league.

We are talking about a NFL rusher who has played for four different franchises (5 in 2010/11) and despite the slow start to his career (1264 yards and 9 TDs in first three seasons with Cardinals) has compiled 9,217 rushing yards and 62 TDs on the ground. The guy is impressive and will join 10,000 yard club next season.

Make mention that after the dreaded 30 y.o. mark that he has improved in yardage and TDs scored, Jones is still going to help a team win a Super Bowl.
