Association is Ruined

Association is ruined because of the big men 3point glitch. Now I know 2k said you can turn player roles off but that just adds to the problem. The problem is when you turn player roles off generated rookies get no minutes everrrrrrrr. Reason being is when player roles are turned off the computer does not adjust player roles. Let me explain when you edit a player he is still labeled a starter, sixth, role player ect.

Now when the computer drafts a generated rookie he is a prospect. Now since player roles are off the computer does not adjust them. That means that generated rookies will stay prospects forever getting no minutes. I simulated a lot of seasons and rookies don't get minutes until a lot of players retire. The only way around this is to control all 30 teams but that's flawed also. I tried it and when I got to the off season the only option I had was to auto advance. Now I had all teams on auto to do everything except one which was my team. The only option I got in the off season was to auto advance. That means I could not resign my own players or draft ect. I thought if you had one team all options off you could still control that team freely but you can't. If you choose to skip pass teams it will skip pass yours. The only option to control your own team when controlling all 30 is to do everything yourself for all 30 teams.

Turning player roles off is not a fix. It just creates another problem. I know many people have not noticed this because they basically play all their games in association mode but I sim and found this problem. Who wants to play a association mode where after the first year rookies get no minutes?. If you want rookies to get minutes who wants to play a association mode when big men are throwing up three's. There needs to be a fix for this. No one seems to know about this glitch when you turn player roles off.

Did I miss something and 2K said they are working on it? I will state it one more time. When you turn player roles off generated rookies get no minutes because the computed does not adjust their role. When you turn player roles off they still have a role in the edit screen and generated rookies roles are prospects. I even tried creating draft classes and making sure the top rookies were set at starters. When I started association nothing changed. The computer drafts them as prospects and they stay prospects.

I hope 2k is not just going to ignore this. There are still a lot of months till the next 2k and I at least would like a playable association till then. If anybody has any info if 2k is working on it please let me know. Thanks

Re: Association is Ruined

2K is not working on it. Ronnie has state there will be no new patches for 2K10 and suggested to find workarounds for this.

Controlling all 30 teams is probably the best way to go for anyone wanting to circumvent all of the glitches that Patch 2 caused. If you don't want to do that then turning off Player Roles, CPU Trades and Team Chemistry is the way to go. When I simmed two seasons with these three things off and using downloaded draft classes I had three rookies averaging over 30+ MPG and several more averaging 20+. Plus there is enough player movement in offseason FA to make up for no trades during the year.

Re: Association is Ruined

I deleted the patch, and have gone back to the original. I haven't noticed any bugs really with it. Plus with it, I get player roles working with morale, which helps me when trading. I control all 30 teams, and found some sliders that really help the defense. I'm really having a blast, you should try it because I could not deal with the 2nd patch.

Re: Association is Ruined

Just curious to see what you guys think.

I sold my copy of 2k10 back in '09 after the first patch but before the 2nd patch (I am not counting the one that came out on launch). Now that the all star break and trade deadline is over with I am thinking of picking it up again. If I do so, the game would still be working under the 1st patch and so would you suggest I stay with it or would you say to just dl the new one and turn off the stuff as mentioned earlier.

I will only be playing offline association.

Thanks

It's up to you. Personally, I like being able to play an online game every once in a while, and I'm fine with turning off all that stuff to avoid the bugs, plus the defensive improvements in Patch 2 are very good. You might not care about online at all and really like having to account for player roles and chemistry and things like that, I don't know.

Either way, once you get around the problems it is a very fun game.

I'm gonna be honest, maybe it's just the sliders I've been using, but big men don't really try 3's on me. They normally stay closer to the post.
