OS Real Sim Roster Vol. 5 Slider set for real game statistics
I have previously posted real world statistics including on floor shot percentages for each team. I use OS roster Vol 5 as a base roster and use 11 minute quarters and 47 game speed to get a realistic number of FGA per game as well as other statistics (FGA is more important than scores). I then analyze the shot distribution by location on floor and FG% per location on floor for each team using the game track feature. So far I have 100% nailed the Mid range and 3pt shot attempts and FG% both for at rim (80% at baseline now down to a realistic low 60%), mid and 3pt. I found that defensive awareness and help defense reduces off rebounding. The help d is not really the reason for excessive points int he paint anyway it is actually the rediculously high FG% on these attempts even when contested. More importantly this set of sliders gets real world FT attempts (though not fouls since there is no illegal screen or pushoff fouls). All foul sliders are set to 100 but reach in which is 55.
Areas of concern (looking for ideas):
1) I cannot get the 10-15' shots to real world numbers (8-10 per game), as currently 15 or so per game. I suspect the midrange slider effects true midrange as well as 10-15' attempts. If anyone knows what range the sliders exactly effect let me know.
2) Offensive rebounding is still too low. After reducing defensive awareness to baseline of 50 and reducing help defense slider this improved but is still at average for teams at best. I think this is a result of the coaching sliders help defense setting and maybe defensive tempo settings but am afraid to touch these as they effect simulation statistics.
3) Blocks: The CPU hardly gets any blocks if you play a realistic game with the correct number of drives to the basket. I have continued to ratchet this up with minimal effect.
4) Fouls: For realistic numbers of player fouls (CPU works fine) you ahve to edit your roster. Give each inside player (C, PF) 100 commit foul rating. Give each SF and SG 90 commit foul and do not adjust PG (or too many reach in fouls).
5) I can't make sliders for your playing style. If you drive to the basket everyplay there will be too many blocks and or FT attempts and inside % may suffer. If you never drive you will also not have enough fouls. Try to have a realistic NBA number of FGA attempts on drives of around 25-27 per game with a 60% FG%. Otherwise adjust sliders as needed to get realistic results particulalry teh commit foul sliders and steal sliders. In short adjust the sliders to make them work for you.
