These comments are brutal...but they deserve discussion.

With some of the creative decisions over at EA, it just made it difficult to stay there. They just want to make a different game than I had a vision for. So I reached out to (2K's senior vice president of sports development) Greg Thomas and he was gracious enough to have me back.


"I don't want to get too much into specifics for '2K11,' but the focus over here has always been to make the best basketball sim," said Wang. "That's something that the guys over at EA, they don't always have that same focus. They want to make a different kind of game this year."



Thomas agrees: "Over at EA, you have so many levels of management, and you have somebody up there looking at unit sales and how 2K is kicking their asses, so now they want to change things in a great way because they can't afford to sell this many units through a three-year plan or a five-year plan. Here, we're always trying to do the same thing, we're always trying to make the best basketball simulation we can.
"I think EA is going through an identity crisis with their basketball sim."

Well it looks like they dug themselves into too deep of a hole to get out of. What I mean by that is with the bomb jobs that were Live 06-09, they were just too much to allow EA to fully map out the plan they had to rebuild the game into an actual basketball sim.

1 year was definitely not enough time to make the game into what it should be and the dev team should have been given more than just this year but obviously with the disasters the previous next gen Live's were, EA needed the game to make money for them instantly, which was just unrealistic to expect.

So all in all it's pretty disappointing and it looks like we won't be getting the Live 11 we all want.

He's basically just said in public what everyone has been saying for ages. Stunning to hear a producer say it in the press though. He's just completely dumped on them. Any cred they've built up just got massively wiped out.
