I want to construct the best bang for your buck players from silver and bronze. I plan on having my golds be the qb and ilb w/ leadership. so what 9 players will best compliment these two golds?

HB- Finesse and Power, Speed Burner
WR- Route God, Speed Burner
DB- Coverage Bonus, Quick Feet
DL- Pass Rush Bonus
LB- Run Reader
WR/TE- Tough in the Middle
DB- Ball Hawk

You can pick the other 2.

Re: I want to construct the best bang for your buck players from silver and bronze.

Here are the best attributes IMO for each position to get the most...

WR & TE: Break Away Burst, Strength Bonus, Quick Feet, Route God

Route God creates A LOT of separation but is considered a very cheesy attribute and many will not play you with this attribute.

BAB will cause your WR to " Break Away " from any defender trying to cover him.
Strength Bonus will cause your WR to be good at blocking for your running game, help break a bump man, and will hold on to the ball in traffic.
Quick Feet is the best attribute for all positions. This attribute makes your WR very athletic and if you want to make those circus catches you need this.

RB & FB: Quick Feet, Branching Tackles, Strength Bonus...

Note: When creating a FB you must make him a RB first and than go back and edit him to a RB or he will be slower than a turtle. It is a glitch in the game on why they start out so slow and this is the way you fix it.

Quick Feet is same as above.

Strength Bonus will allow you to break even more tackles than with out it.

Branching Tackles breaks the most tackles but by many is considered a cheap attribute to use since there is very little skill in mashing the A button.

CB & Safety: Quick Feet, Coverage Bonus, Ball Hawk, Loose Ball Magnet, Bump Master

Quick Feet as posted above.

Coverage is for zone defense.

Ball Hawk will allow your CB to make plays on the ball but can also put him out of position.

Loose Ball Magnet will cause many balls to be tipped in the air for enough time for you to make the INT.

Bump Master as much as some hate it is the only thing you really have at slowing down a Jerry Rice type of WR.

LB: Quick Feet, Closing Speed, Run Reader, Coverage Bonus, and a defensive line move like Rip, Bull Rush, Club.

The best ILB is when you sub your OLB in at ILB. For some reason natural ILB will pause on plays to read them and ALWAYS get blocked.

Closing Speed is the best attribute you can give your LB.

Run Reader + Closing Speed at OLB is a beast.

Coverage is needed for your ILB to cover the middle post.

D-Line: Quick feet and any Move like Rip, Spin, Club and Bull Rush.

If you want the best bang out of your silver and bronze buck...get as many players with the "clutch" attribute as you can.

Drew Pearson, Kenny Stabler, Bart Starr, Dwight Clark, Ricky sanders, Dick Anderson.

And running backs with workhorse: Curt Warner, Otis Anderson, Okoye, Means..

Re: I want to construct the best bang for your buck players from silver and bronze.

Nice break down Hitman. Only a few things I would add:

BAB - Per my testing, BAB only works if the reciever / halfback has the ball in their hand. BAB is very useful for Bronze & Silver HBs getting round the corner on stretch / power plays. They'll get a 1 to 2 second burst around the line of scrimmage (or wherever the first defender attempts to engage them).

Ball Hawk - It's not Ball Hawk that puts you out of position, it's the RB button that puts you out of position. You can use LB (no risk of being out of position) to knock the ball down, RB (risk of being out of position, but a chance at making an interception, or Y (just makes you jump, no chance at INT, but can knock high passes down that you couldn't with LB).

Coverage Bonus - Fairly certain this is for man coverage, not zone coverage.

Loose Ball Magnet - Always thought this had to do with recovering a fumble, not INTs.

Run Reader - Double edge sword. OLB reads the run, but many times causes him to freeze as he's reading it, and thus become blocked.

I thought the same thing on Coverage Bonus but in my testing of CB they will stay man 2 man pretty good without it. I have 2 Bronze CAP CB's that only have Quick Feet and they play just as good as Willie Brown in Man 2 Man. What else is a coverage bonus for Zone?

Use Ronnie Lott enough and you will see what I mean about LBM. The ball will be hit in the air over and over again until he comes in and picks it off.

When I put my WR on a Fade or a Streak route and they have BAB they separate every time. The only thing that stops the TD or the catch is a CB or Safety playing really deep to begin with.

Run Reader on a ILB causes the pauses you speak of but with my Silver OLB with Closing Speed and Run Reader it is almost impossible to get the edge as they read instantly.

These are my experiences.

Run Reader works best with run blitzes.

Send Dick Butkus on a blitz off of a gap stunt. He hardly ever hits the wrong gap.

Loose ball magnet comes into play anytime the ball is "live".

I’d recommend not picking a gold QB and instead picking a gold WR (I like Biletnikoff) and Derrick Thomas then a silver QB with leadership (I prefer Stabler over Starr because he has a better arm). For the rest of the picks I like Lem Barney and Elvin Bethea (sub Bethea in as a three tech DT in a 4-3/Nickel 4-2-5) then at bronze I like Tony Boselli, Cliff Branch, Dwight Clark as a slot WR, Christian Okoye, Carl Banks, and Terry McDaniel.
