Tips for more accurate shooting via the Pro stick?

EDIT: This is for 2K10 using Venom's slider settings at this time (love them!).

I was just wondering if any of you would want to share your tips and tricks as to how you aim your shots using the Pro Stick. do you aim for a specific spot on the net? Do you always aim for the center? At what point does the on ice player's skill take over vs. our own shot positioning? Etc.

Thanks all! The manual was useless and I didn't see anything on Gamefaqs.

Good question. Ive been trying to figure it out too. Ive reverted back to classic controls with overhead camera because it lets me see what side of the net is more open. I'd be grateful for any input on this too.

Re: Tips for more accurate shooting via the Pro stick?

Aiming is always done with the L-Stick.

Scenario: Skating Up - use the L-stick and aim 11:00 for top left corner, 2:00 for top right corner, 3:00 for right side of net, 6:00 for 5-hole, etc...

Scenario: Skating Down - use L-stick and aim 5:00 for top right corner, 7:00 for top left coner, 12:00 for 5-hole. <--- that is the tricky one!

The skating down scenario is harder to do a 5-hole shot, simply because in-game, you are driving the net ( L-stick down ) and then when you shoot, the natural tendency is to keep pressing down to skate and take the shot - therefore shooting it top corners.

Hockey game developers awhile back, decided from feedback from fans that this should be the natural way to aim while skating. It works well, because the higher percentage of goals in hockey are those shot in the upper half of the net.

Practise in the Practice Rink, select the Breakaway practice scenario and set the Defenders to 0 and have fun!

P.s. I tried auto-aim for a few games, and while it delivered more variety of goals to different spots, I found that I scored fewer point shot goals - only because in 2K10 point shots to the top corner ( stick side ) go in really well! It was only for a few games, so my experience with Auto-Aim ON is not the greatest.

Re: Tips for more accurate shooting via the Pro stick?

If you play with shot accuracy below 30 using the full angle of the left stick is not the right way to go because most of the players unless you got a very good sniper will miss the net entirely.
When you have a clean shot and are not pressured you can use the full motion of the left stick. however since this is not the case for 90% of your shots you need to be cautious with your motion. e.g. when doing a stumble shot, aiming for the center is the way to go, as your accuracy is affected by the stumble and therefore you will find the puck going over the glass more than on the net. 2k10 has a very rewarding shot aim. If you try to go really top shelf, right under the pipes, with a 4th liner, its not gonna to happen in 99% of the cases.
