2k's Kobe Rating is Absurd

How is he a 97 overall? Is it just because he is on the cover. Is this a deal he made with them. EA has him at a 93 which is much more realistic.

LeBron and Wade are a 96. I can understand Wade being a 96, maybe even a 95, but LeBron should be the highest rated player in the game. Carmello should be around a 94.

Lakers have a much better supporting cast for Kobe. LeBron and Wade are doing more with much less. Carmello is deadly on offense and is just barely ahead of LeBron for scoring. Lakers would be a much better team if you substituted any of the 3 guys mentioned over Kobe. That's backed up by numbers and PER.

Lets take a look at this season:

LeBron - FG: 51% FT: 78% 3PTM: 39 Pts: 692 Reb: 166 Ast: 193 St: 30 Blk: 18

Carmello - FG: 48.7% FT: 87% 3PTM: 22 Pts: 759 Reb: 149 Ast: 77 St: 30 Blk: 8

D.Wade - FG: 42% FT: 76% 3PTM: 19 Pts: 594 Reb: 119 Ast: 130 St: 37 Blk: 27

Kobe - FG: 48% FT: 84% 3PTM: 21 Pts: 612 Reb: 121 Ast: 92 St: 47 Blk: 7

Now when you look at those numbers you should also know that LeBron has a PER upwards of 30. The rest of the group is down around the low 20s. LBJ's PER is on Michael Jordan status.

Somehow, 2K has Kobe as a better shooter. According to percentages, both long, medium, and short - LeBron is much more than slightly better. An argument against LeBron's FG% is that he scores mostly near the hoop. This is not true. This season LeBron has taken the majority of his shots outside the key. Many from long range - as evidenced by his class leading 3PTM.

So EA has LeBron correctly rated as the best player in the game. Statistically HE IS the best player in the game.

And stay on topic. (don't bring up rings....Sasha has one and Barkley doesn't.) We all know that if LBJ wasn't on the Cavs right now, that team wouldn't be a playoff thought. They'd be on the bottom of their division. Last season's record was a tribute to the level of play by LBJ.

I'm not sure why there is even a debate at this point. Kobe is in LA and thus gets a lot of media attention. I live in LA. It's shocking to see one of the greatest players of all time not get the recognition he deserves due to homerism and market size.

This guy is something special....after Magic it was Michael.....now it's LeBron. (kobe's play has never been near the quality of Magic and Michael.) Kobe is strictly a scorer. The closest Kobe-like player in the league today is Carmello. They are both scorers and both on very talented teams that would be playoff contenders with or without them.

From style of play: D.Wade is the most similar player to Michael Jordan. BUT he is several notches below....He's similar but not even close to as good.

LeBron is similar to Magic....only more athletic and prolific. If you ever wondered what Magic would be like if his abilities collided with Michael Jordan's ability to dominate and lead a team - you get LeBron James. Stats, Player Efficiency Ratings, and Value Added don't lie.

You give the best rating to the best player. He has that supporting cast and he still has numbers comparable to the people you listed. Pound for pound, Kobe is the nicest. LBJ, Carmelo and Wade should be in the top 4 rating wise though. These are the best players in the league. The people that you should be concerned about are Dirk, and Durant...they are the ones getting robbed.

Re: 2k's Kobe Rating is Absurd

Kobe has the sweetest looking jumper in the game and is the most fundamentally sound player in the NBA. It hurts me to say these things being a Piston fan, but Kobe is the best player in the NBA right NOW. Also in no way shape or form does LBJ's jump shot even compare to Kobe's.

Re: 2k's Kobe Rating is Absurd

This is basically what I've been say in every single one of these "There are not rated right" threads. Can LeBron shoot like Kobe in this game? Can Kobe drive like LeBron in this game? I haven't seen one player that doesn't play like his real life counter part yet....Yup not one. Dwight Howard is strong inside. But doesn't have the post moves of a KG or Duncan. Rondo is awesome defensively....But can't shoot if his life depended on it. Amare doesn't dunk like he use to. If anyone can find me a player that doesn't play like he would in real life. I would love to see them.

If you think back to 2k9....When guys like Chris Duhon were able to get numbers of a D Will or CP3. Or J.R. Smith was able to play like LeBron. This year I don't see any of that stuff.

Anyone remember when someone could average 30-40 points with Josh Smith....lol...On dunks alone
