Re: Bonds' career over, agent says

This is bull****. Two years ago he wasn't 45, he was 43 (42 at the beginning of the year). A year before that he led the entire major league in on-base percentage, something that many here claim to be of the most valuable offensive statistics on the back of a baseball card.

No reason he shouldn't have been signed two years ago, no excuses for that. Pisses me off that he never got a World Series ring or 3,000 hits.

Is he going to show up again at AT&T Park and state that he's "not retired"?

Re: Bonds' career over, agent says

Its a sad day for Major League Baseball.....

I don't care what all you haters say Barry Bonds is one of the greatest baseball players in our generation. The fact that he wasn't signed to a team in 2007 was pathetic, the fact that he wasn't signed to a team in 2008 was pathetic. Over half the league was on something "performance-enhancing" and it has been that way since the game was started. If a player sees something that can make them better they usually are going to do it...back in the "glory days" there wasn't any rules about whether or not if something someone knew about that made them better was allowed or not, they just did it. Think about someone back in the 1950s and 1960s wearing contact lenses back then would be considered "performance enhancing," giving someone better eyesight at the plate is definitely performance enhancing. I'm not even going to into all the stimulants all the players were using in the 1970s. Anything that a player used or took to make themselves better should have been considered performance enhancing because not every player in using it. Science these days are always going to be giving players performance enhancing stuff...get used to it. There were plenty other factors that were changing in the MLB around the same time as these "allegations" as well. Lets not forget the study that in 1995 - 2000 baseballs bounced 33% higher than in previous eras. Barry Bonds was an MVP before the allegations and he played great baseball even after we all knew he wasn't taking anything anymore. He's just a good player, not his fault he's the best at what he does.

Its not even a fact that PEDs make someone that much of a better baseball player. It's not hard to find a list of player's that have been caught. A lot of these players were scrubs or minor league players, the fact is that these players are just not good. Ya sure there are a few stars on the list but thats just because they got caught. Most of the players weren't still playing in 2006 but Bonds was and he was playing at a high level. Hell he lead his league in on-base percentage, and that was on a terrible team and before his knee surgery. There are numerous other players that were actually caught with steroids, unlike Bonds, or that were linked to BALCO....Gary Sheffield ring a bell??? A mets outfielder goes down and they go and sign someone who over his career is more injury prone than Bonds and puts up way lower number than Bonds????? there is no excuse for Sheffield getting signed right after he gets CUT by an American League team to go to the national league while Bonds is sitting there in baseball shape and unemployed.

I could go for days arguing about Bonds and the only asterisk that should be in the record book should read "Barry Bonds * : *-Barry Bonds was colluded upon by the owners and blackballed by the league after the 2007 year after being not resigned by the San Francisco Giants at his current numbers while still in clear baseball shape. His final year he lead the league in walks and lead the National League in on base percentage."

He only needs 65 hits to get 3000 hits, only 4 RBIs to reach 2000, and only 38 home runs to reach 800. Only 69 more runs to get the all time runs record and only 37 extra base hits to get the extra base hits record. All these are achievable in one year by Bonds and any other player in history would've been signed by a team by now simply for the milestones and publicity and respect for the game, no body who can still play better than other players who are player should not be unemployed.
