A few questions...

I have recently started a franchise with the titans on a custom difficulty setting just under all madden for all four settings. I play on slow setting if that matters. I have never been one to dabble in the sliders but I feel that this game needs help from outside sources to make it realistic(er). Here are a few questions I have.

-Since I am really good at controlling a FS/SS I cannot for the life of me get sacks. I have played 6 franchise games and have gotten 2 sacks. 1 DT and and 1 OLB (Kieth Bulluck). If I get anywhere close to the QB he throws it right away or does the tackle and throw animation. If I blitz his blindside its the same thing. So, how can I stop Robo QB? All I want is for my DE's and DT's to be able to get sacks once in awhile. Not to much to ask.

-Also, when I break a long run with Chris Johnson he will hitch in his running motion when he is ahead of everyone else on the fied. WTF is this? It happens every time he breaks one. Any suggestions?

- I would also like to make the CPU be able to run the ball. The CPU cannot run at all on me but can throw on me all day.

These are three of my main concerns so if you have a suggestion/ slider setting I would appreciate it.

Cool Re: A few questions...

Check the Slider Forums. Some of them have settings for all 32 teams to make them more like their real life counterparts. This would take care of most of your issues.

As for sacks, try:

  • Manual blitzes form the SS/FS spot. I know it's a long way off but if the S is fast and you time a gap correctly you get better pressure than you think. I get sacks online like this regularly.
  • Overload blitzes--i shift and slant the DL to one side and blitz a LB off the same side(I also run a 3-4 but i would imagine it works in the 4-3 also)
  • Cover 3. I can literally call the same 3-4 Cover 3 Zone play every play of the game and get 1-3 picks and 2-4 coverage sacks. I do this for every online franchise game that I have to play against the CPU. CPU offense has never been able to consistently beat the cover 3 zone in madden.
  • Middle blitzes. I will sometimes pinch the line (again, 3-4 defense) and blitz 1 or both MLBs and often get 1 guy in quick for a sack.

Re: A few questions...

I guess my problem is not getting pressure but getting the sack. I've shot down in with a line backer crashing as the ball is snapped yet the CPU qb throws it ridiculously fast as I go untouched towards him. What difficulty do you play on? And some of your points seem like you are playing against another person. I can get sacks online because humans can't see the pressure and WR at the same time unlike the CPU who cheats.

Cool Re: A few questions...

I mentioned getting sacks with manual S blitzes online just people can see it coming from a mile away and still can't always do anything about it. The coverage sacks from Cover 3 Zone are online but against the CPU when a team has no owner. Even P Manning throws picks and takes sacks vs cover 3 even if you literally call it every play of the game. It's just ridiculous, lol. I play both on AP and AM depending on the league. I don't play offline.

Re: A few questions...

I play with the Titans too, so I can relate. For sacks I control the LDE, who is Elvis Dumervil in my franchise (traded a second for him and Kerry Collins to keep it in the phrame of reality) and switched him over and he became a 97. Anyway, I usually jump off the snap quickly and hit the stick to do an outside rush and THEN press the sprint button. In 10 games he has 28 sacks lmao. I can also get nice pressure across the line. Just be realistic. Don't rush outside every time, switch inside some. And don't be afraid to dive. Crap animation, but it works. Also set the sliders for CPU blocking to 0 and pass rushing to 100. It doesn't change things as much as it sounds.

Chris Johnson also limps up in his runs because of fatigue.

I also see the 'hitch' in Adrian Peterson's step while breaking runs to the outside. I'll have to watch his energy level more closely to know if it's energy related...

Has anyone else seen this and can confirm it's when a player is 'tired' ?

Re: A few questions...

That is a real ****ty way to show that someone is tired. It looks like a frame rate issue it's so bad

Re: A few questions...

Where you guys have seen that a "hitch" in the runner is fatigue or energy based. If that was the case, why dont all players do it?

Why can I go into my replay and watch my player stop when he plants his foot while everybody pursuing him doesn't? That should also dissolve any FPS issue, it also happens on both consoles.

It honestly looks like a way of preventing huge runs or give the appearance of good pursuit.
