"Washington DC is the capital of Maryland AND Virginia because it touches both states."

A girl I went to HS who was in my history class said this and this was just AFTER she read in the book that DC was the National Capital.

Was watching a football game with some friends and a couple girls. One girl asked, "Can the players see the lines on the field?" She was referring to the line of scrimmage, first down line, etc.
