how do you export teams?

When I posted about making classic teams and edited the numbers, they said make the teams u want and then u can export 8 teams and then change the numbers after u export them in your season or association. My question is how do you export them? I was looking all over the place on the game and the only thing I could findwas a place where could create a team, but had to edit everything and make new logos and stuff. Please help!

Thanks,
Scott

Re: how do you export teams?

I have not messed with the retired number workaround yet, so I'm not 100% sure, but I think the idea here is you adjust the Lakers roster how you like (adding Magic Johnson and James Worthy let's say) and even though their numbers will be wrong, I think you'll start an Association with that team.

So now you'll be in Association with your wrong-numbered Lakers. From here, I would go to the "Save/Load" screen, or perhaps "Options" (though I believe it's the former) and there may be an option to export on one of those screens. If you still do not see "export", try selecting the button that says "Save". This may give you an option to save your franchise or export a team. Again, I haven't worked on this in 2K10 so I do not know for sure. But the "export" option should be somewhere in the "Save/Load" vincinity.

Once you have exported your team, it should be automatically saved as a "team" file. You can exit your Association and load up whatever roster you're planning on saving your Lakers to. Let's presume you're going to add them to a roster titled "Classic '88". In this case, you would have to load your Classic '88 roster. Once you have done this, you will then have to load your exported Lakers file. This should put your exported team on the Classic '88 roster, likely at the beginning of the alphabet.

From my understanding, it's here that you'll be able to edit the jersey numbers to whatever you wish, as it's not officially the Lakers, rather it's the "exported" Lakers. You will want to make sure you save your roster once you have finished your adjustments. I've read that you can repeat this process with 8-10 teams per roster.

One caveat I have read is that exporting a team with created players will revert those created players' faces back to default in the process. So that could be a slight drawback if, say, you're attempting to export the '93 Bulls with a created Michael Jordan. The workaround in this case would be to upload the created Jordan to the 2KShare server with his correct number then download him and assign him to your team of choice. I think I've read that players downloaded will not be affected by the retired number thing, so a downloaded Jordan would retain his 23 when assigned to the Bulls.

Again, I haven't done any of this in 2K10, so I apologize if I'm misguided but I figured I'd at least give it a shot since no one else had spoken up at this point.

Re: how do you export teams?

ok, so I did what you told me to do and it worked about exporting the teams. Here's the problem, it didn't change the faces of the players, but it did screw up a lot of the names. For example if you export the lakers, magic johnson will be Earvin Johnsonearvin on his jersey and different players will be all mixed up. It does that to every team you export too, anyone know a way around this?
I was thinking that maybe if you export only the players u need to number change to a team, would that work? But how do you export a specific player?

Can someone please help?

Oh wow. 2k9 had the same problem. Look around the league. I bet a few other peoples names have changed too. I was hoping that wouldn't happen again this year.

Dang. My only other solution would be to read PortlandBlazers' suggestion on page 2 of the "Retired Number Work-Around" thread on the 2K Roster page. It looks like he put all the legends he wanted on one team and exported that squad and did a series of switches. I'd suggest reading the post and taking it step by step and see if that works.

And to touch on your other thread, wondering aloud as to why 2K did away with the ability to use retired numbers. . .I'm not 100% certain but I'd bet Live still has the ability to use them. I've felt that 2K thought they'd be adding something cool and immersive, something that'd make us say, "Sweet, LeBron had to change his number when he signed with the Bulls!" Perhaps they thought they were making things easier on us (just like automating sock color).

Of course, that's all speculation.
